good. the fact that we've compiled a 7-2 record with such an uneven overall performance is amazing. if we can get hot (and healthy) the last few weeks of the season going into the playoffs, we could . . . go . . . all . . . the . . . way.

Being 7-2 is great, and having an opportunity to take control of the division with a home win is exactly were the Broncos need to be. To keep it going, they need to establish the run better, tighten up the pass defense, and get Rod Smith back into the game plan to keep the pressure off of Plummer and Walker. Indy is the only AFC team that looks semi-dominant, and we almost saw Denver beat them. The Broncos have an excellent chance of getting to the Super Bowl if they keep improving and stay healthy.

I think it's great. Despite inconsistency from one side or another, the team has buckled down and found ways to win, week in and week out. They have the mental toughness to hang in during tight games. As they get more consistent on both sides of the ball, they will become very, very dangerous. Heck, they're already one of the most feared teams in the league. What team out there (besides Indianapolis) wants to play the Broncos? No one. It's not because they're flashy, but because they are always tough opponents who know how to win.

The offense has been getting better throughout the season, and I expect them to continue to improve. Once they gain some more consistency, look out NFL!

Should be a real good game, but I hope the fans in the stands don't sit on their hands in the second half like they did at the Indy game, we need the disruption all that noise provides.

The Broncos have played tough teams. Baltimore, Indy, New England, Pittsburgh, KC. Bad teams would not have won all the games the Broncos have won.

you can call it inconsistency or you can realize that that's just how you are going to play tough teams. Did the Colts throw so well because the defense was inconsistent or because they may have the best passing offense ever?

The Broncos have proven they could beat anyone. That makes them one of the best teams in the league. Very simple.

No matter how "together" the Broncos get, they will never generate a pass rush against elite AFC teams without blitzing. We see our D-line being stood up at the point of contact nearly every down. They are great against the run, but just can't get penetration. I feel good about this team, but they have to mix up the base defense a little bit. I was frustrated watching the Colts march down the field every possesion against us. And we still barely lost. It makes me wonder how different that game would have been if we would have sent just a couple zone blitzes. We have to use different schemes to get to the QB, or else we'll have another repeat of the past couple playoffs. Remember, Champ Bailey can only cover for so long, if the QB has all day to scan the field, bye bye Super Bowl dreams.

One thing we haven't heard much about is Denver's performance on the road. Two of their best games this year were at NE and at Pittsburgh. That's a great sign, especially when the Colts have not been spectacular at home this year.

I would like to see Brandon Marshall get some more opportunities. He has great potential for some obvious mismatches and could draw some attention away from Javon down the strech. Rod is a possession receiver.

A winning record is always good, but now its coming into "Crunch" time, where the team must show more consistency overall, as 7-2 record could easily turn into 7-??? by regular seasons end, and that wont be good! Denver needs to re-establish the running game they once had, or the passing game will be even tougher to execute, but everyone knows that and lets hope Shanahan has some answers?? I can see why the Denver Fans are nervous and that the next few games may be the real test --we'll see soon enough what this team is really made of???

good of course! last season our best games came early, we slowed at the end of the season. this year, we haven't played our best ball yet.

I think Denver will have to play it's best game of the season to have a chance against the Chargers. I'm glad the AFC West is finally getting the attention it deserves with a nationally televised game.

I think it's great. I've maintained all along that the Broncos have intentionally been holding back this season for many of the games against "lesser" teams so they can save all their good stuff for the teams that mattered, like New England, the Colts & Steelers. Why reveal their full arsenal if they don't need to? In past seasons (Broncos fans have VERY short memories, apparently) the Broncos would get off to hot starts of 7-1 or 6-2 and then go 4-4 or 3-5 down the stretch as the rest of the league "caught up" to them. This is because they were showing all their cards from game 1. This year, Shanahan has clearly learned from that and dialed back when needed against weaker teams. The obvious stronger output against the "big" teams like the Steelers and Colts show that they can do it if they want to. Expect them to do the same thing against San Diego this weekend.

I think they're doing great. A win is a win! Jake isn't looking great, but he is still winning. Jake is the man! We will go as far as he can take us. I think he can win us a Championship, he's that good! The defense is amazing this year. 7-2 is a great record for the team at the midway point.

Nobody is ever happy with this team no matter how good a 7-2 record is. Denver is full of spoiled fans. At least the team is consistent in winning and not a losing team like the Cardinals or Lions.

The Broncos peaked too early last season. They looked lucky against the Patriots and terrible against the Steelers. Hopefully, they will peak at a better time this season. I think we all know that Jake can play much better and so can the O-line.

I love where the Broncos is sitting right now. They really should be 8-1 if it wasn't for the performance on opening weekend. Relax Bronco fans we're 7-2 and we haven't played our best ball yet, maybe it's just me but I don't fear no football team in the NFL, so sit back and watch the Broncos put a spanking on those Overrated Chargers this Sunday Night.

I feel comfortable with the Bronco's current record and believe they will continue to win. The Broncos have a complete team with stars on both sides of the ball. I do believe a lot of their success for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs will depend on Jake the Snake. He's a proven winner and has the potential to perform with the top QB's in the league. If the Broncos can reestablish the running game, Jake will overcome this slump and return to last year's form. Go Bronco's!

In all honesty...We should be extremely proud of our team. Just think how great we will be when everything clicks at once. Just like it's been said a million times before... there hasn't been one game yet where both sides of the ball brought their "A" game. If we get both sides rolling, we will be VERY good. It does still make me uneasy to not have this yet, at week 10.

Are ytou saying you actaully think Shanny prepares a game plan that holds back? Are you nuts?

What happens if he get's beat and has to justify why he prepared a game plan that help the team back in fear of giving away something to a future opponent.

Winning in the NFL is difficult at best and you have to play your best to beat anyone - even the hapless Raiders or Lions.

The Broncos are a good team with several weakness. Shanny seems to find a way to make it all work and that is the edge we have this year - coaching.

Hats off to Shanny.

Its a good thing. Being a Bronco fan up here in New England, I've seen a Pats team that always gets better in the second half. On the other hand, the Broncos start fast each year, seemingly dominant, but become mediocre down the stretch. Shanahan has tried to emulate the Pats' success and there may be something to holding a bit back thru the season.

The next 2 games will go a long way in telling the tale, both in the division and for a possible bye.

The Broncos are right at the record we would have predicted at the beginning of the season... a team dominant enough to beat any opponent, especially premier teams, yet not a lock to win it all. They stay among the elite with a chance to go as far as mastermind Shanahan can take them. I can't wait unitl I get to see them in the AFC championship here in Indy!

Reality check, by early Sun evening da Bolts will be picking oranage pulp from between their teeth and Denver fans will be looking down the jaws of a long, cold winter.

Look at the bright side. In a few weeks the Puny Ponies travel to the coast for what should be a real trainwreck.

We will know a lot after the SD game....7-2 is great, no doubt, however we have seen 6-2 turn into 10-6 a few times. They will need to get better.

The Bronx at 7-2 is a good thing. In 2004 and 2005 they were 5-3 at the break. In those years when they needed a win in the big games they failed and finished 10-6. This is a big game, and so is Thurs. If we split the two, we should be VERY happy.

It is what it is. Realistically, the Broncos are a 10-6 or 11-5 team that will probably win a round in the playoffs but isn't good enough to make a Superbowl run.

Wow! I just looked at the Denver Broncos 2006 schedule. This schedule is ugly, but the Broncos are competeing. I like Jake. We have a good team. Go Broncos beat the Chargers.

Some of the biggest memories in my football viewing life have been at the expense of Snotty Martenheimer: "The Drive," "The Fumble," the "Wild Card Playoff Game number one in 1998," and unfortunately the breaking of the wing of Drew Brees last year. The Chargers don't know what is waiting for them.

Question:
would you rather your team peak early and go flat or build slowly and peak in the playoffs ?

Stats mean nothing, early game highlights mean nothing, WINS mean something.

Anyone told before the saeson that we would be 7-2 at this point would have been happy with that they way the schedule is. Ours has been tougher than S.D. and as I said it before, Shanny is playing possum. He can build a conservative game plan for weaker oppnents and win, so why not hide the big play potential for the games that really count ?

He's learned to conceal more than he used to. Personally, I dont want to lose a playoff game because an opponent game planned around some big plays the Bronx made scoring 40 pts on some slob of an opponent. Id prefer to quietly win the ones we should and suprise in the playoffs than put our playbook on display.

What do you guys want ? Video game stats and a playoff loss or to have a real chance at beating someone in Jan. because they havent studied every pass route and scheme we have ?

lighten up people, and BTW, S.D. is not that good. Ill take Jake over ANY young QB making his FIRST START in Denver. Rivers will flop this week and so will the Dolts.

After reading many of the posts, the most important fact is this:

The Broncos are 7-2 without putting together a complete game. Not bad at all...

When the Defense goes flat, the Offense picks things up. When the offense is flat (quite often) the Defense picks up the slack.

The Broncos would be the scariest team in the NFL if they actually put together a complete game. It will happen... but until then I am happy winning games with my poor 'broken' team. Most teams cannot hit 7-2 even if they are playing well.

So stop ya whining and support the Broncos AND Plummer. That support will HELP them win more games.

Denver will put it all together on Sunday night. We have too good of a coach. We will score 38 points and win bye 10 points. Jack the snake will be on top of his game and Shannahan will let him do alot of roll-outs to get down the field.This is from a fan in New England.

Our 7-2 record is great!! Especially considering that we almost had the Colts, and it will be even better after we're done putting a hurting on the Bolts!! The next time we see the Colts, Manning won't have such an easy day. I say that because we were without "Big Money" on the inside, and Gerrard is THE reason we let Trevor leave. Having Elvis and Gerrard taking on double teams will change what the colts are able to do against us, and Manning won't be able to sit back and pick us apart like he always seems to do to us.

Back to the Chargers.... I have been pissed all week listening to all of the fair weather fans and talking heads on TV, already writing the Broncs off before we even take the field!! I know they have L.T., who is in my opinion the best back in the league, but everyone forgets that no matter what he's doing to everybody else, the Broncos ALWAYS have an answer for him!! I'm not saying we'll blow them out, but I do think we win by 7-10 points.
