How do we make Graham the second highest paid tight end? He caught 20 passes last year. If he is here to block we are in trouble after spending crazy money on a tight end that is going to be a blocker. We could have gotten a good offensive line guy to block. How is it New England hardly spends big money on guys and actually lets their big name guys go yet they always seem to be in the hunt comes playoff time. We spend stupid money on players and seem to spin our wheels.

It would have been nice if this guy was more seasoned - actually someone who can help mentor Cutler. I love Cutler but if he doesn't develop a better feel for pressure while in the pocket, The backup QB can be a real crucial issue next season.

One Ramsey is a stable back-up QB. Two if any of you didn't watch the Colt Pats playoff game you must not have witnessed the remarkable catch Graham made that should have and almost put the Pats in the SB. Lets face it, NE does not and has never used their TE for anything other than blocking. Ben Watson is a good TE, probably better the Graham. However, Graham has the physical skills of Sharpe (not making comparisons). Graham is one hell of a blocker and all around FOOTBALL player. People under estimate his receiving skills, they also under estimated Shannon Sharpe, Antonio Gates, and a guy we all are familiar with, Tony Gonzales. I remember the day when that was what Tony was known for, blocking, but he can catch too. Give Graham a chance, the price tag was big, but I have a strong feeling that many of the Broncos fans well see why we signed this guy.

Last time I checked the Broncos are always in the playoff hunt. The last 15 years the Broncos have always been near or in the playoffs. Just recently have the Pats been in the playoff hunt. Also, two words TOM BRANDY. Brady makes nothing out of something. He and Elway are very similar in the regard.

Ok people Ramsey is not that bad. The one year he started in 03 his QB rating was similar to that of Plummer OUR STARTER this year. As far a backups go he is solid. Besides he is 28 and as far a QB's go that is relatively young so he will be able to be a solid back up up for the next 5 plus years. Now we won't have to worry about our QB's at all!

The reason why is the Broncos need a guy who can manage a game and be comfortable if Cutler goes down, Ramsey has a lot more starting experience than most other free agent quaterbacks now that Brad Johnson is unavailable. Solid pickup.

What's to comment on a back-up QB. He's a veteran with starting experience. Thats pretty much what you want when you have a young starter. Back-ups are just that, back-ups. Daniel Graham is a force who has great hands and can block. In Denver's system he will remind you of a guy named Sharp.

If you've never heard of Graham then you've never seen his talents...Don't worry...We've got a great player in him and he'll help develop Sheiffler. Can you imagine it now? Henry, Walker, Graham, Sheiffy, Marshall, Cutler...how can you defend that?

I think Ramsey is a terrible pick up for us on any account. He will never lead or teach Cutler anything. Cutler is already better than Ramsey has ever been and he will not put any merit or credibility into his leadership with him. If Ramsey played for free, I think this probably won of the worse decisions I have seen the broncos make in years. That includes the Dale Carter pick up several years ago. If you can't get a quality veteran---find one!

Ramsey's arm is as strong as Cutlers, plays a similar game. This will be important if Cutler does go down we will not have to change the offense. If you do take the time to look at Ramsey's stats you will see they look pretty good (positive TD/int)even playing on terrible Skins teams.

I also say let Bly go to Washington. It is obvious that he is more concerned about a financial reward than play for a contender. Truth be known he is probably concerned that his skills will be compared to Champ every game when opposing teams toast him several times a game. Let him go....and let's get someone that is happy to be a Bronco like Travis Henry. Quite frankly, I think Bly is way over rated to begin with....I don't recall Detroit ever being a extremely tough team to throw against.....including on Bly's side.

Bronco fans should truly be excited of all the offseason moves so far, including this one. Ramsey is merely 28 and entering a system that is QB friendly. Strong arm, Pocket presence,game time exp, you cant really ask for more in a back-up. And as for all the haters on Graham, I dont think we were the only team after this guy, plenty of teams saw the talent and i am sure he had plenty of offers on the table.This guy has something to prove!! Coming home to Denver, his hometown, I think its gonna add to the p'd off football player factor looking to prove something. I am excited on these two pick-ups and a cpl of the others......now to find Smith's replacement (we are prob gonna ask him to retire or get cut him)

Ramsey coming out of college was known for his strong arm and with his limited NFL experience, I think Shanahan will mold him into a fine WestCoast QB.

Just a little observation from long-time Bronco fan, I see a generation gap between pre- superbowl fans and the younger fans. When you go through four super bowl loses and have the monkey on your back (like Steve Young) even as a football guy and Bronco fan you don't forget. Shanahan brought back to back Superbowl wins. Elway played in 3 Superbowl losses before that. Shanahan no matter what happens now is a Hall of Fame coach. Just like any job you're always learning. Shanahan is the best Bronco coach ever. Just look at the teams in the NFL and other sports (Cubs 1908) no championships. Appreciate it.

Hey TP, you cant compare Graham to Shannon Sharpe by saying Shannon was know for just his blocking when he came out. Shannons 3rd year he was catching over 50 balls and his 4th year over 80 balls. He was also not know for dropping balls. We paid the 2nd highest money for a tight in the league that wasn't even a starter. You are right about Brady he does make things happen this is just why we can't afford to blow money on players who are not even starters. We need to get starters that make plays.

This is a huge mistake. He has throw only 35 TD's for 29 interceptions, has only a 55% completion average, and fumbles the ball once in every 29 times he attempts a pass!! This is worse than Plummer!! Is this stupid or what?

We moved from CO to the DC area 6 years ago. We watched Ramsey, a first round draft pick, stink up the field for 4 years until even the Redskins got rid of him. Maybe Shanny thinks he can "fix" the problems Steve Spurrier created with Ramsey early in his career. Certainly were better choices out there, in my view. First bad move of the off-season, tho.

I think Ramsey is a better pick the Wright. Wright had even less playing time and couldn't even last a season as a starting QB. And no doubt Ramsey has a better arm then Harrington. Living in Virginia, I've watched Ramsey play too. The Redskins problems were a lot deeper then QB and still are. I can live with Ramsey as a back up. Look how many years Kubiak backed up Elway, and he had no playing time. He wasn't a crusty old QB brought in to mentor the QB. That's what you have QB coaches for.

MiamiMike - I agree about Graham. I am a PAts fans and while I appreciate the job Graham did for the Pats, that is alot of money for a guy who is an excellent blocker and average (at best) reciever. I hated Shannon Sharpe but he was a great reciever, Graham is not even in the same building as Sharpe.

Lately broncos fans want to criticize Shanahan incessantly. keep in mind here we're talking about a guy who has had more super bowl wins than losing seasons since he's been here. the broncos are the most consistently good (not always great) team in the league for the last 12 years, and we have shanahan to thank.

Patrick Ramsey was AWFUL in Washington..he may have a strong arm but he throws it to the other team way too often. I don't know what Shanahan is thinking..Anthony Wright had an equally strong arm and was accurate..and could scramble. Is the mastermind afraid of a black QB? I remember he chose Plummer over Kordell Stewart even though the previous year Kordell played great in a win over the Broncos..go figure.

As a Redskins fan, I think you all got a very good backup who can step in and win some games for you. Ramsey was looking like the Redskins future until Spurrier arrived. Ramsey then was lost in his "Freddy the Freshman" style offense. He was beaten and battered and developed happy feet. With a good team around him in Denver with good coaches, Ramsey will make you proud.

To Dennis # 42 - No Shanahan is not afraid of the Black QB. I guess you forgot Jarious Jackson the Black QB we DRAFTED in 2000 from Notre Dame. Wright has shown flashes of potential just as Ramsey. Ramsey was drafted to high at # 1 and put in to Steve Spurrier's college system that didn't work in the NFL. The Jets got Ramsey to be the Starter if Pennington injury wasn't healed so Denver isn't the only team that thinks this guy can play and He uderstands that he will be the Back up QB here and He will get better under shanny. Bill Walsh a football genuius has tried to get Steve Young and Jeff Garcia to play in denver to Help their Carreers but neither has. So PLease Don't make comment on Things that are not true just because you don't know the facts. Go Broncos and Were having a GREAT offseason. Graham, Henry, Ramsey, Holland, and trades for Dre and Big Daddy Wilkerson.

I am amazed at the number of backseat experts that love to run down Coach Shanahan, and enjoy making him their number one excuse for everything wrong in life. For me, I see a coach that doesn't run when he has to make hard decisions, has a competative nature, and always wants to be number one. The Broncos are a winning organization, and have a desire to field a winning team, and not too be part of a personality contest or retirement home. For those part-time fans that always seem to like throwing trash on the Broncos I say go be an Oakland of KC fan.

Last year most critics were saying, "We didn't do anything in free agency, what is Shanny thinking?". This year we go get a 1000+ yard rusher, a top notch corner, a blocking TE that has been unused as a receiver, and back QB that has more NFL experience then we've had in years (do you really want Preston Parsons marching onto the field in November if Cutler went down?). So critics...what is it? Should we sit idle during free agency or should we make a splash?

"TE that has been unused as a receiver" - Unless you have watched Graham play for the Pats quite a bit, you might not want to throw statements like this out there. Belicheck loves TEs and Brady went Graham's way alot early in his career - the problem was that he did not catch the ball about 40% of the time. He is an excellent blocer (now a $5M blocker) but to say he was underused in NE is wrong, he has issues as a reciever.

Do you really think that you are qualified to comment on any player if you have never heard of them? Last I checked we have brought in more big name free agents than any other team even though we have less money than most. Players want to be in Denver because of the success and class of the franchise, and many of you call for Shanahans job. GET A CLUE!!! Shanahan knows what he is doing. A Superbowl ring on each hand proves that. He is not perfect but only two coaches in the league right now have more championships.

Qualified to comment? Last time I check I didn't need to be qualified. I do know that if Cutler went down in a pivotal game in November Preston Parsons wouldn't give me that easy feeling. A third string QB for years, 2 years out of the
NFL, never played a snap in the NFL, and biggest stastic in college is a 68 yard punt! He played in the Big Sky Conference against teams like Montana State University, now there's some great experience walking into a big game! I love the moves that Denver has made. You solidify my point exactly Keith.

Uhhhh...bizieman, there have been other African American quarterbacks in Bronco uniforms - see Jarious Jackson, and the 3rd string qb whose name I can't remember (Sean ??) who almost helped Denver beat Dallas in 1992 when John Elway was injured and Tommy Maddox was struggling.

I dont like the move one bit, and it's not that I dont think Ramsey can be a good backup, its just i think Bradlee Van Pelt could have been a GREAT backup, and a heck of a lot cheaper too. Van Plet was a big strong kid , who made plays and brought lots of great energy to the team, and i think could have challenged, and pushed Cutler to be a better QB. So as I see it, the questions shouldnt be why did we pick up Ramsey. It should be why did we let Bradlee Van Pelt go??????

Dre Bly! Travis Henry! Daniel Graham! I'm not so sure about Wilkinson but Ramsey was the best veteran backup available. We plugged major holes without losing draft leverage. I'm excited.

Ramsey is a good fit for the system. He was not a good west coast offense fit for the jets and Wa couldnt keep him on his feet when he played there (50 sacks)
Ramsey has a big arm and reads well out a pro-set offense. Keep in mind the Broncos next option was Brad Johnson. Ramsey is an untapped resource who has already sat behind a smart QB in Chad Pennington without causing any drama.
I cannot believe the poll results on the front page-60% think Shanny blew it last season and should retire?? This guy has been a perennial 10 win coach even after #7's time, brought the leagues most dependable Run game and coached Joke Plummer to 13-3 and the AFC championship game, where JP managed to implode and turn the ball over faster than a Lotto drawing. (remember 3rdQ when Porter came on the blitz and Jake shrieked and dropped the ball while curling up into one? That was funny.) Lighten up on Shanny, we coulda had Wade Phillips back?

The Broncos picked up some great role players on the free agent market. Everything they've done in free agency up until now has been solid. What they haven't done is pick up some defensive linemen who can pass rush. That has got to be their top priority right now, and they probably won't get an immediate starter in the draft. They lost Patrick Kerney to Seattle, and they sorely need someone who has Kerney's talent to get to the QB.

I am so tired of hearng so called fans cry about every little ting the Bronco Organization does. If they try and hire someone they complain they spent too much, and if they don't get an other player, than they didn't spent enough. The Bronco's coaches are some of the best in the league, and the players are extreemly good, so get of their backs. If the team doesn't have your home phone number, so they can personnaly call you to get advice, than just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I would have to agree with Dartman and Dan the Bronco Fan. Look what we have. A secondary that could be put up against any in the league. A linebacker corps that is touted as probably the best in the league. A defensive line, that coming back from injuries last year, is proven. Than the offense Jevon Walker, Travis Henry, Jay Cutler, Rod Smith, Daniel Graham, not to mention a offensive line that is also considered one of the best in the NFL. So I ask you this....what do you think our rival Oakland Raider blog page looks like? Must be nice to be a Broncos fan huh?

2. Ramsey first 4-yrs QB rating was 79.4
3. Won't even compare IT's
4. Plummer's first 4-yrs QB rating with Broncos 88.6
5. The potential is much higher with Ramsey and for the first will have time on his side to develop his skills.
6. Jay Cutler's first 5-games QB rating was 88.5
7. Coach Shanahan's record speaks for itself. The best is yet to come.

I think there must be something wrong in the Bronco front office. They traded for a lineman that is planning to retire, they signed a quarterback for two million dollars that has proven he can't play in the NFL. He couldn't even keep a job as a started in the World Football League. And Kerney who wanted to play in Denver wasn't offered enough money to sign.I hope they get lucky because they sure arent very smart.

You can't underestimate the importance of having a capable backup quarterback on your roster. You hate to think about it, but if an injury should sideline Cutler for several weeks, a strong backup quarterback means the difference between the playoffs and an early off-season. Look at what Jeff Garcia did for the Eagles or how Damon Huard helped the Chiefs, while Tampa Bay had no one to step in for Chris Simms after he played badly, then was injured for the season.

Besides Jeff Garcia, who would much rather be a starter, Patrick Ramsey was the best available free agent for the job.

The Broncos' off-season acquisitions have been overall pretty impressive because they've addressed some obvious weaknesses from last season. These additions should allow them to concentrate on finding a few players who can make their defensive line more aggressive - most likely through the draft.

And if Dre Bly doesn't want to play in Denver, the Broncos should be in a good position to get some value back for him.

Mike - while I may not agree on all your points, I do feel you frustration. However, I vary from you in one major way. I never give up on the Broncos. I am always a fan. Did I stop when Wade Phillips was here, NO. Did I stop when they traded Atwater, NO. You are not a fan, and while I might not like all the moves the team makes, and may very well yell my opinions. Other than them denouncing Elway as a Bronco, I would never turn coat. Mike - it was nice eto have you as a fan, since probably the 1st SB win.

Some of you wish we had Van Pelt instead of Ramsey? Well, Bradley is strong and mobile, but he had limited arm strength. He fit the system Denver used around Plummer because of his mobility. Now with Cutler at the helm, they are trying to open up the offense with a drop back and pass down field QB. Ramsey with similar arm strength as Cutler fits this type of system better than Van Pelt ever could, and he's still young. It was a nice move by the Broncs.

Cutler didn't screw it up...if the mighty Bell brothers would have punched it in from the ONE YARD LINE we would have been playing for a championship. Jake should be happy he was sent to Tampa we could have sent him to Oakland Ha Ha, it may be what he wanted but he will thank shanahan in the future. I respect Plummer as a man and football player but he had his shot so LET IT GO.. CAUSE HE'S GONE.
Graham is a BEAST especially blocking but he will catch the ball when cutler puts it right between his numbers. Travis Henry is Hungry for yards and could get well over 1500 yards depending on how much Bell plays. Were set at every position except the D-line and we need to get a saftey due to age and injuries, we could also add another running back for depth but we could also just draft the best player on the board and be fine. If someone knows a position we have to draft this year besides DL,S,RB let me know. besides I don't see what all the fuss is about people. this has been one of the best free agency periods for the broncos in years. we get mad last year when we don't sign anyone and we get mad this year cause we do. We lost out on Kerney but we have got some weapons on both sides of the ball, bly can score if he picks one off. So to me Its happy land in Bronco land and we have a new D-coordinator and a new special teams coordinator and Shanahan is a Genius of A Coach and yeah he's made mistakes all organizations and coaches do but the difference is were winners not winers cause were Broncos Baby

To all the Dan Graham haters...Check out the highlights of the Pats/Falcons game in '06 in which Graham had 5 catches for 119 yards, including a 45 yard screen pass for a touchdown where he hurdled one defender and ran over another. I really don't understand all of the negativity either. We are so blessed to have an organization that year in and year out cares and tries to win the Super Bowl. Just look at the Rockies and their organization and how pathetic they are year after year! Would you people rather have the Broncos be cheap and sign no impact players and finish last in the division and have no chance at making the playoffs like the Rox? Get real folks and start appreciating what we have because these guys running the show won't be around forever. I can't believe people feel so sorry for Jake Plummer
the car beater and finger flicker! Plummer is not bad guy but he is not a Super Bowl Quarter back. I can't believe the same town who wanted Plummer benched earlier this year for Jay Cutler now feels sorry for Jake ! Jay Cutler has the ability to be better than John Elway and gives the Broncos the best chance to win. Jake Plummer is really a Craig Morton type of quarter back that filled in a roster spot for the Broncos until they could find their man. I think Mike Shannahan is one of the greatest head coachs ever to coach in the NFL and gives us a chance to get to the big game every year. The day Mike retires will be a sad day for Denver.

I personally have been a Bronco fan since I can remember. Going back in time through the Wade Phillips era, Tony Dorsett trade, Bobby Humphries being traded away, the 3 amigos, I go back to being a fan to about the time Elway was drafted. We've seen great years, we've seen unbeleivable disappointment, but I've always remained a fan! I questioned the benching of Jake last year, but it also gave our rookie QB some great experience heading into this year. I'm not sure how long everyone reading this have been fans of the Broncos organization. If the release of Jake has taken you out of our fan base, I question whether you were ever really a FANATIC about the Broncos to begin with. We've seen a short preview of what the Broncos are plans are for the year (free agency is only a week old). We still have the rest of free agency, the draft, and who knows maybe even another trade or two (Jevon Walker during the draft last year?). If you are disapointed in the signings of a quality corner, a 1000+ yard rusher, a top TE, and a back-up QB, while releasing a QB who in his mind was obviously considering retirement (possibly long before this decision in the back of his mind), an OT who hadn't played to his 1st round status, and a RB who was being benched in favor of a undrafted RB, and a 6th round draft pick, then I'm not sure what to say to keep you as a Bronco fan. Quite honestly I'm not sure if I want to say anything to keep you a Bronco fan.

And another thing: all of the people that are complaining about Ramsey are going to be the same idiots that start the "We Want Ramsey cheer" when Cutler struggles. Once and for all, Plummer was a mobile, good scrambling quarterback who couldnt hit the broadside of a barn. He almost got several Broncos killed last year with high passes. Plummer was horrible in the pocket, handled pressure badly and didnt have the arm to scare defenses into having to cover the whole field. Once teams started defending teh sprint right and play fake rollout plays, Plummers act was over! Plummer would have been benched earlier in the year if the Broncos didnt have the toughest schedule on paper that I've ever seen (IMO)
Enjoy the view over that at waterybeer field, and dont come a knocking when Inv @ MI-HI is Rocking come September.

D. Graham has good hands and is an underrated receiver. He was lost in a shuffle of receivers and the Pats have another good TE, Ben Watson--remember him chasing down Champ.

The Pats used Graham very effectively in the redzone, the Broncos struggled in the red zone. Why are people complaining? A TE doesn't have to have Antonio Gates-type numbers to make an impact.

Ramsey has talent. He was the best option for the Broncos. He is more a more skilled passer than Plummer was, and if Shannanigans could get some production from Jake, he can get it from Ramsey, if he has to.

#82, if you are going to jump off of the Broncos wagon, good riddance. Remember that when the Broncos are contending for championships over the next 5-6 years.

I didn't like the way they handled Jake, but that's the business side of things. I'm not a fan of the business, I'm a fan of the TEAM. No matter who's playing, I'll root for the Broncs, even if Ramsey was brought in as a starter rather than back up. That's what fans do. Everyone that says Plummer is better than this guy remember this: It is the BACK-UP QB position. Why pay Plummer all that money to just hold the ball on kicks? I wouldn't want Plummer trying to teach Cutler anyways- that's the whole reason Cutler took over!
And for anyone that wasn't a fan before we won the Super Bowls: John Elway had a back-up by the name of Gary Kiubiak, who was never a NFL starter, and I'm pretty sure Elway turned out just fine so lets not worry about Cutler not being able to learn how to be a quarterback.
I really don't understand all of this support for Plummer- what did he ever do? Sure he won a lot of regular season games but how many playoff games did he win? Just one and that was thanks to Champ Bailey. Jay Cutler will at least win us some playoff games and when that happens all of you nay-sayers are going to be talking about how great he is and that we are so lucky to have him and not Plummer. The next time the Broncs do win the Super Bowl all of you fair-weather-fans will know who you are.

If you're a fan you're a fan no matter what- that's your team wether Plummer is throwing or Cutler. Of course people get upset when a player they like is traded etc, but if you stop liking a team for that then you're not really a fan.

Some of you guys need to have a serious reality check. #22-- Van Pelt is more proven than Ramesy? Stop posting things on here from the PC at your local bar. Last I remember, Van Pelt has never started (maybe even played--outside an 8 yard trick play/run)in a meaningful game but somehow he's more proven than Ramsey. He's not more proven now , nor was he more proven in college. The bar you're at must be somewhere around CSU. If you're going to post here you should at least backup your claims. I don't have time to bust on everyone of you that say stupid crap, so for all of you that actually believe Bubby Brister and Gary Kubiack were the answer, craw back in to your bottles and pass out so the rest of us don't have to read the crap you post here.

Cutler doesn't need a veteran backup QB to help him those people are called QB COACHES. Their is enough talent and experience with the coaching staff that we don't have to worry about Cutlers maturation. Did you forget the Shanny was John Elways QB coach. Plus Cutler is a very smart person and will mature very quickly. There are reasons why he went to Vanderbilt instead of a school like the U, where all the thugs go. Patrick was a good pickup, he is young and he is familiar with the west coast offense.

No QB will ever measure up to John Elway so scratch that. Second Jake was kinda screwed over because he never got the chance to finish. He was a good QB and he had a winning record as a starter here in Denver for us. Stop you whining and admit that he was the best thing we had for the moment. Something better comes along like a Jay Cutler and now u guys wanna throw him under the Bus. What kind of fans are you....The guy prior to the 2006 season had only 7 INT's and took us to the AFC Championship. Stop Bitching...Shanny lost his nerve and benched him because the critics were calling Cutler's number. Now I love the kid, I think he is destined for greatness cause he got what it takes. But you have to admit that Jake was not given the chance to finish the job....

Finally, the intelligencia of Denver is being heard. Whoo! I was worried there for a minute.
Lets just wash away all the critiX by saying its a credit to the high expectations we have for our Broncs.
The offense looks good, added a little skill & depth (thats important), Lepsis will be back healthy and Foster is gone, Yay! The defense needs help (4 picks in the 1st 85). The fact we went after Kerney and not Adalius OR Porter tells me the new D-coordinator is staying in a 4-3. If Bly stays, look for us to play a man-press coverage with more blitzes. As far as the draft, last year we all had Chad Jackson and Demario Williams penciled in to the starting lineup, how'd that work out. You never know what Denver will do, other than win games.
Dont start looking at who's there at 21, cause I dont see that happening. We will add speed on draft day. cant say whether it'l be WR/DE/FS or DT even. But where we pick and who...better shot at picking the trifecta at the dogtrack tonight. GO BRONCOS!
So can we quit whining over who our B/U QB is? Huh? Can we?

Instead of fighting amongst ourselves as to the solution of the post Elway-Davis-Sharpe era, I have two things to offer you.

The first is that we are CLOSE again to being the dominant AFC team that was mostly all John in the 1980s, and that championship team we were in the late 90's.

Plummer was a good pick at the time. Time is now up. Cutler will be better. The free agent signings so far seems to be just fine and have improved the team with the picks so far. With some of the missed chances on a couple of players the Broncos appear to be going in the right direction. I would like to see Bly play for the Broncos, it would make for a solid defensive backfield.

For one Elway played with the Broncons for 16 years, Jake Plummer only played with the Broncos for 4 years. So making that comparison is stupid and is unheard of.

Secondly, Jake can't even be mentioned in the same breath or thought as John.

Thirdly, Jay Cuter is going to be fine and a much better QB than Jake. It was time for the Broncos and Jake to move in seperate direction, and time for Cutler and the Broncos to move in the same direction. I can't say Cutler will be the next Elway, but I can say that based on this kids play he could be a elite QB in this league. Jake should have finished the season, I will admit that. Shanny could have silenced the critics but did not. Jake did not help himself by playing poorly almost every week. Cutler did not help Jake by showing everybody what he could do in Practice. So this year was lost. Jake, Shanny, Cutler, and every fan in Denver knew or knows that Cutler is the future, and right at this instant looks bright.

Too much arguing over the Jake Plummer/Jay Cutler QB controversy. Some will always like Jake Plummer and some will not. Not sure why some people are so dispassionate about him though. He had the 4th most wins over his persiod, took us to the playoffs more times than most teams can even hope to be there in a decade. I could go on about stats and how I don't like them or which ones are important to me (i.e. wins vs losses, I'll take wins). We had some good and some bad games with Plummer as QB but the same can be said for all of the Denver players. My frustration was over the fact that we had a team that came that close to getting to the SB and you bench him for a QB that has never played for a winning team and other than knowing he has skills I'm not the type of person that just accepts that all will be well. Shanahan lied and said that Cutler gave us the best chance of winning. With him so far we are a 40% win percentage team. Ouch Shanahan had better be right because we won almost 70% of our games with Plummer at the helm and that's hard to beat in this day and age. I'm hoping for great things to come for my team. I'm not a pessimist, I just don't take critics word that Plummer was the reason we lost all those games this last year. I'm trying to figure out how when we were up like 24-4 we lost to San Diego, Oh yes, let's blame Jake. Silly rabbit tricks are for kids. Jake just got the last laugh. Now onto 2007 and a Broncos SuperBowl. Go Broncos.

I've been a fan since the VERY first game (I was five), I've seen a lot of you come and go. Some are just here for the great years, some for the mediocore to good. I've always tried to enjoy the game, and cheer for whoever is on the field. SUPPORT is a fans job. If you are so damn smart why ain't you coaching? If you're so athleticlly gifted, why aren't you playing? Oh that's right, most of the complainers can't even come up with the stamina to cheer consistently through a game. Down by 21, 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, I'm still a fan. And I try to let the coaches coach, and the players play, the front office do their jobs, while I down a few brews, CHEER (not boo or hiss) enjoy the GAME (that's what it is) and although I read and discuss everything Bronco 24/7/365, I have to let the pro's do their job.

broncfan57 you must not have read my post. I am simply pointing out that the people who keep bringing up the same old worn out argument that Jake winning percentage is better than Johns', are idiots. Of coarse I disagree with them, but everybody that I disagree with are not idiots. The people who are, however, idiots are the same people that have no arguments for Jake and keep bringing up is winning percentage.

Most of the time a QB does not single handily win football games for his team. However, a QB can in fact single handily lose football games for his team. All of Jake wins as a QB came from the product of how good the Broncos are. I can not think of one specific game were Jake put the team on his back and went out and won a game. The guy was a product of a good system here in Denver. It shows everyone how much Shanny, and the Broncos organization can do when they have a sub par QB "leading" them.

The Broncos might be one of the only teams that can hide bad QB play and win games. Once Cutler matures into the player he is going to be, the Broncos will be contenders every year, and I'm not talking about contenders for the playoffs, I'm talking contenders for the Superbowl.

Last, broncfan57 Jake Plummer is a crybaby quitter, he acts like the Broncos owe him something. They don't. He is a quitter because he gave up on football. Call it moving on or what ever other excuse you may say, the guy quit, he wanted a starting job given to him. Jake does not want to fight for anything anymore. TP- Look, Denver has a good system in place no doubt, but there has not been one single team since the '98 and '99 teams that have had the depth or overall stand out talents that those teams had. The lack of depth has cost Denver more games than anything else. Plenty of teams through the years have had worse QB's than Plummer, and won the SB. It's easy to slam him on the internet, but I bet you'd hem and haw if you were ever around Steve Young, Phil Simms or especially Elway when this subject came up. I bet there are plenty of examples of Plummer bringing the Broncos back in the 4th quarter, but it wouldn't matter when or where, because you would make an excuse for that also. I hope Cutler succeeds; due to the recent roster moves, he already has a better team around him than Jake ever had. Denver is slowly losing it's reputation as a class organization to teams like Indy, because Shanahan will always look for a scapegoat. Also, most other cities would be content with fielding good teams year after year. The NFL would be an extremely boring league if the same teams were always in the Superbowl. Being a fan means you support the team regardless, and don't look for those to blame when things don't go your way.

He did, but I swear you're the next canidate for Jake's Alzheimer Foundation if you can't for one minute separate Football from what goes on in life the other 98% of the time.

The discussion about Jake is old news. He is moving on, the broncos are moving on and all the fans should move on. We have a new chapter to start. I can't wait to see what happens in the draft and this up and coming season.

Wait and see. This kid can play! Joe Gibbs NEVER gave this kid an honest chance. When Spurrier coached the Skins there was no offensive line. This kid is tough and has a canon for an arm. He also is a great guy. Kept his mouth shut when Brunnel was stinking up the stadium and Gibbs kept him on the bench. He will be your future starter, mark my words. Anonymous or Dennis, Ramsey did get a raw deal, he never had time to throw the ball because he was always getting sacked. But I am sorry to tell you, if the guy can not beat Chad Pennington and his weak arm and all the battling injuries, then I am sure he won't beat out Cutler and his rocket arm and towering physical skills. Shanny and the Broncos have the future of the team with Cutler, he has proven that. Ramsey will be a nice addition, but Cutler has much more upside.

You keep harping your broken record on Plummer being bad. Plummer threw for all of those NFL yards, yet you act as if someone else threw them for him. All of those NFL TDs Plummer threw against NFL defenses, you act as if someone else threw them for him. The Broncos paid Plummer millions of bucks to play for them and Shanahan wanted him to stay as a backup. For ten years, Plummer was one of 32 starting NFL QBs, a tremendous accomplishment. Tampa’s GM, Bruce Allen, willingly traded for Plummer and was ready to pay him millions to join their team; an endorsement by a proven football professional. Since the Cardinals and Broncos paid Plummer millions and Allen wanted to continue to pay Plummer more millions, why don’t you tell everyone why these NFL experts are all wrong about Plummer and why you, Tidybowl Pete, is such an expert but yet no NFL team will pay you a dime for your ‘valuable’ opinions?

PS. Bronco Dan, you are so ignorant and so brave with a keyboard. It would be good justice karma that you get into a fender bender with Plummer one day, get him pissed at you, and have him school you. You deserve it.

You crack me up. You all make comments without looking at the whole picture. You all forget that the Great Jake the Fake Plummer screwed us by choosing to retire instead of going to Tampa. If he would have went to Tampa we would have gotten Garcia. But you winneres would probly cry about that. It is not the job for the back quarterback to teach the starting quaterback It is the coaching staff. Now if I was Shanny I would have went cheap and aquired Marcus Vick from Miami as my back up quaterback. One to have another Elway and Qubeack dual. ALso to develope him for future trade options.

Last year we didn't make big moves in the free agent market this year we are. Just have faith and Mike will take us to the promise land.

"a tremendous accomplishment" Yeah right. Name one thing that Plummer has done in his NFL spoof of a carrier. I can't think of anything. How is his carrier tremendous, you dope? Maybe you are in love or attached with Plummer, but the guy did not or has not accomplished anything in his carrier. The only thing he has done for this league is retire, and that is fine by me.

I am sick of hearing about Jake Plummer. He was here for 4 years, won games but nothing else. Nothing special about him. All he did was win with a good team. That does not take much talent or much effort. He did not bring football back into Denver. He was not our savior, all he did was win with a winning team. See Ya Jake.

#134 - As you put it 'Jake the Fake' did not screw us. He wanted to start in the league. That is pure and simple.

That he was not going to get a chance to start (or likely not), he decided to retire. Which is his prerogative. While it was disappointing to not get a chance to see him play again (yes, he is a still a winner)... it nice to see him stand up for what he believes in. There are too many classless-money grubbing-losers in the NFL. If there were more people with integrity, drive and class... the NFL would be much better than it is now.

So once again, I say thank you to Jake the Snake for your years in Denver... all the games you did win for us... and for staying classy in the face of all the idiots calling for your head.

Bottom line is, that every player that has played for, or been cut by the Broncos is a better athelete than anyone posting on this site, therefore, they deserve the same respect that they would get if they were standing right in front of you. Additionally, Shanny is far more qualified to coach an NFL team than those that sit here and jack their jaws via the keyboard. Being a Bronco fan for thirty plus years, I have seen the highs and lows.... We are far from the lows. As a matter of fact, we are much closer to the highs... This current group of free agents, has a tremendous upside. Collectively, we haven't seen a more complete infusion of talent, than what this group has to offer. So, let's trust Shanny and the players to do their jobs..... Afterall, they don't come to your work and tell you how to run the drive-thru.

I, for one, would just like to wish Jake well in his retirement. He certainly seemed genuine in his desire to get out of the game in his press conference. I may be proven wrong and he may come back in Houston. Jake didn't have the personality to put up with the "other" things that came with being an NFL quarterback (i.e., the press, the fans, the spotlight). He thinks he will be happier in retirement and I don't doubt that he will be. He has made millions and will never have to work a day in his life. If someone handed you $25 million today would you go to work tomorrow?

The Broncos off-season has been great. I think they have improved their team in almost every area of need, except D-line. The draft apparently has a whole crop of outstanding D-linemen. Don't be surprised if Shanny packages Mr. Bly and some draft choices to the 'Skins to move up in the draft for one of the top defensive line guys. Other than the Patriots, the Broncos off-season has to rank at the top of the league.

Dre' Bly is happy and content in Denver. There must have been a misunderstanding or some screw up in the post. Bly is not happy that the Broncos have not extended his contract, but that is supposed to happen by training camp. Unless some freak thing happens I would say at the least Bly is going to play, at the least, one year with Denver. Don't be surprised if Denver trades a sec and thr round pick for another draft pick, or trade the #1 draft pick for some 2nd and 3rd rounders. The Broncos hold the cards right now, and that is always good.

Shannahan's record in Denver is outstanding and he is clearly one of the best coaches in the league. It's time to show some respect and get fired up for a 2007 Broncos team which is much improved compared to the 2005 & 2006 rosters.

TP I've seen a lot of your posts, and I agree with almost everything you say. Keep posting man, if I hear one more person compare Plummer to Elway I might go try out for the NFL myself. Ha ha.
I wanted to point out that everyone is doing the 1-2 punch running back that Denver started with Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell a few years ago. Although we are not the first team in history to do it, Shannahan was the one who made every team want to do it now. We must be doing something right.

I'm excited for the upcoming season. While we still need d line help, this is far and away the most talent we've had offensively since the Elway, Sharpe, TD, Eddie Mac days. The last few seasons we've let good players leave, incorrectly assuming they could be replaced. Last year was one of the least talented offenses the Broncos have had. They missed Anderson, who was excellent at protecting a lead. They have upgraded tremendously with Henry. THe only reason we shuldn't be a SuperBowl team is if Cutler doesn't handle things well. Last year he made some throws that got me excited, but it looked like he was lost at times, and clearly wasn't ready to lead — hence the laste-season fold. THose are rookie traits. Now in his second year, I expect big things, especially with the upgraded talent surrounding him on offense. If we could win all of these games with PLummer, imagine how well we'll do with Cutler? Plummer was 40-18 as a starter. Cutler will soon be 40-9, because he's twice as good as Plummer. I see Jay winning 4 SBs before he's done, and we'll all be saying John Who?

Instead of fighting amongst ourselves as to the solution of the post Elway-Davis-Sharpe era, I have two things to offer you.

The first is that we are CLOSE again to being the dominant AFC team that was mostly all John in the 1980s, and that championship team we were in the late 90’s.

The second thing I would like to offer you is comic relief as we look at two of our division rivals: the Raiders and the Chiefs.

I'm somewhat suprised to see this sight till taking some posts. If you have something to say about Rod Smith, check out the site on hm restructuring his contract. A true Bronco. Although I agree Denver is a talented group this year, there are still some critical players needed to complete the team. Hopefully, we also stay relatively injury free.
And Tommy, I hate to bring this up but, if Cutler is twice as good as Plummer, we would then be talking about the same number of games being played...that would make him 49-9 vs. 40-18, not 40-9.
I might add that the aforementioned Raider-hater site is really not intended for youngsters under 17 or 18 (it warns you when you 1st enter it), or anyone else who might be offended by some crude jokes, or Linda Blair projectile vomiting.
