Broncos fans vent about loss to Raiders
the coach should go
Thanks, John
I think McDaniels, Xanders, and Bowlen owe Jay a huge apology and a promise that this will never happen again. All they are doing with this type of behavior is toying with Jay's psyche and I find that very offensive. Just my opinion.
Sure, let's trade him for a career backup.
This was by far the dumbest thing to consider by the new coach, bad move.
The Coach and GM should talk to Cutler to reassure that he is our franchise qb or we should trade both the idiot coach and GM.
Comment by Angry Bronco FAN
What are you talking about!!! Go root for the bolts or raider you ****!!!
I don't even know why you are a Bronco fan!
Trading Culter will be a total BUST!!! The only trade Culter if you are getting Brady, Mannig or Big Ben!!! Culter is in the upper top 5 QB.
Mc Wonderboy won't last past a year. Broncos go 2-14 next year
Wonderboy leaves a franchise in ashes and Bolen sells the franchise the
following year.
Comment by Angry Bronco FAN
What are you talking about!!! You are an idiot!!! Go root for some1 else!!!
Culter is not going to no where!!! McDaniel would be an idiot to trade him.
Culter is alot better then Cassel. Jay is a top 5 QB in the league. Only trade if we are getting Brady, Manning or Big Ben!!!
I agree with an earlier comment: Jay Cutler, if you're reading any of these, there are a few more fans here that think you are our future and we want you to stay right where you are.
The Broncos staff would have to have lost their minds if they trade Cutler.
Anyhow, the Cutler trade rumors are INSANE. I cannot imagine why Denver would have even pursued this angle. If it fell through, which it sounds like it did, this could only result in making Cutler angry. Now, you have to wonder whether the team will have to trade Cutler if he's really, really angry.
Either way, it's obvious Josh McDaniels was leading this deal. That's not a great way to get off to a good start...
Give me Cutler any day over Cassell. In my unbiased opinion, there is no comparison there. But McDaniels is much smarter than me, an idiot just typing on a newspaper blog!
Cutler is the quaterback need and want.
Why doesn't Philip Rivers like Cutler? My guess is that Cutler made some arrogant remark (while losing another game to San Diego) like an idiot.
Think about Cutler's record. Not too hot. Even with Shanahan as most of you also think was so great. TRADE CUTLER AND SIGN KURT WARNER. You want to go back to the playoffs? GET WARNER.
One last point. How many times did Cutler throw a ball high to his receiver where the receiver had to jump and get plowed by the defense. Think back to the game Hillis got hurt. He misses his open receivers often. How many times was Royal wide open and Cutler through the ball in the dirt or at his feet?
Be a pro and adjust Cutler.
Heres an idea, trade Cutler to Carolina and get Peppers. And, SIGN WARNER!
But things have changed.
I was so disappointing, upset when I heard this news. Now we have a quarterback that is going to be upset about management since he believes that they do not have the confidence in him. If he stays he will play only good enough to get himself a new contract with another team when his contract is up. NOW the only thing the broncos can do is get a number one pick by Trading Cultler to the Lions. So we can get Matt Stafford. This should have never cross Josh Mc Dummy brain. Cassel has one good year with the patriots because of the system. Cutler has a better arm and has not been a back up since high school.
I can see it now when we play the Chiefs both times next year and if Cultler is still here. Cutler plating along not caring, throwing interceptions on purpose. Saying to Mc Dummy as he walks off the field with a smile "lets see if your new defense can stop your favorite person in the world and room mate Cassel. Then you can go have a beer with him after the game after the Chiefs beat the Broncos."
Why
Looking at the schedule next year I thought we could go 6-10, or 7-9. But Now we will lose two more games to the Chiefs.
I cannot blame Cutler for now seeking a trade. If your company wanted to fire you, but could not get the replacement they wanted and decided to keep you. I along with many others would resign even in this bad economy because why work for people that do not want you around.
Way to go McDummy way to mess up the Offense while making the defense better. I liked to quote Lucy from Charlie Brown. You Blockhead Josh McDummy.
"Mike" try not to write in all capitals so you don't sound like a psycho. Also, Jay is in fact experienced. How is Matt Cassel more experienced than him? One season? Chad Pennington? Are you kidding me?! If Jay Cutler is traded i want McDaniel's and Xander's head on plates. Jay Cutler is the best thing that's happened since John Elway. And what's up with this whole RB deal?
Why do we need more. Ryan Torain ran for 68 yards on only 12 carries. Do not ever ever trade a franchise Quarterback especially one with as much talent as Jay Cutler. Jay, if in the longshot event that you read this, know this; the fans of the Denver Broncos still worship you and will stand by you forever. McDaniels should be Attack Jim Scwartz (Detroit Head Coach) and Raheem Morris (Tampa Bay Head Coach) for even thinking that they could get our hero; Jay Cutler for the inferior and run first style QB in Matt Cassel.
I have always been disappointed with the quick stupid reactions of some of the fans. Some of these people really do need to get a life and stop counting on a football team for it.
Facts: Jay Cutler acts like a petulant kid. He honestly seems like a jerk.
Second, he throws interceptions at the worst times. Third, he throws alot of interceptions. Fourth, the guy never won in College and now has not won in the Pros. He lacks serious leadership skills.
McDaniels knows quarterbacks! Common people start using your brains! Something must be going on for him to even consider trading Cutler.
I love the moves McDaniels has made so far. Dawkins will be huge for this team.
And lastly, get over Shanahan! The guy were only contenders when Elway was the quarterback. That is a Fact! He was ABSOLUTELY terrible with personnel.
I honestly hope some of you morons will not be Broncos fans.
Give the new guy a chance.
Send McDaniels packing.
Matt Cassell
26 years old 6'4" 230 lbs. 327-516 3693 yards 63.4 Pct. 21 tds 11 ints
Jay Cutler
25 years old 6'-3" 233 lbs. 384-616 4526 yards 62.3 Pct. 25 tds 18 ints
Just as young as Cutler, a foot taller, better completion percentage and less interceptions. Oh and he wins. Came into the pressure situation of replacing Tom Brady and he kicked ass.
I would have to say maybe Matt Cassell would have been a good trade.
I guess we will find out when he plays us twice as a member of the Chiefs.
I for one am not looking forward to it.
Now look at what McD has done with this mess! It is Josh, not Jay, that is struggling to break from his past and his comfort zone. It is he who sang Cutler's praises and a few weeks later considered trading him. McDaniels maturity and integredy are the issues here, not Jay's.
As a lifelong Bronco fan I, like many fans, have been waiting for a franchise quarterback to embrace since John retired. And finally he is here. He isn't some has been or retread from another team, he's ours. For his entire short career fans have watched him do great things, not so great things and everything in between. The payoff as a fan is when the young guy you've watched grow for years finally overcomes the struggles and raises the team to the top. If McDaniels and Xanders don't get that now, they never will.
Comment by Ken — February 28, 2009 @ 9:09 pm
So far, this is the only comment hinting at what the real story is.
Sports is the last bubble in the American economy. Football is certain to take at least a 25 percent haircut in revenues this year. Ad dollars and merchandise demand are evaporating, attendance is an expensive and discretionary expense, and contracts like Jay Cutler's will bear no relationship to the new football economy.
Shanny and Cutler were the two most expensive people in the house. One's gone. The other's on the block. Football is not a game. It's a business. And the business of America - to paraphrase Calvin Coolidge - is sucking eggs.
see you next season jay.
Cutler _may_ one day be an elite QB but he's not there yet.
Jay your a Pro-Bowl QB and are going to do great things in this league.... if it's not for the Broncos it will be someplace else... and I will laugh at the Broncos along side you if it is...
in my 50,s and have been a fan all my life but this move by some snot nose kid will lose another longtime fan
Yeah, that will solve everything for one concussion or one season, whatever comes first, by dealing a franchise QB.
And waiting in the wings Matt friggin Stafford, a $25 arm and a 10 cent head. A wacko and a loser?
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
The simple answer's the right one...keep developing the 25 year old QB who has all the tools.
And work on getting a defense that doesn't stink so he's not under so much mental strain every dang series.
Smooth Move Morons
I will have to add something to the conversation…
Matt Cassell
26 years old 6′4″ 230 lbs. 327-516 3693 yards 63.4 Pct. 21 tds 11 ints
Jay Cutler
25 years old 6′-3″ 233 lbs.

***********************************************
Come on Mark. You're going to down Cutler for throwing for 1,000 more yards on 100 more attempts because there was no running back. You also forgot a very important stat, Cutler only took 11 sacks last year compared to the 47 that Cassel took. If you add up the negative plays from Cutler he has 31, the negative plays from Cassel was 62. Last year, the Broncos won their games because of Cutler and lost them due to their defense. Get off your love affair with Cassel. If he had 47 sacks with the Patriots, he is going to get killed in KC. I would personally like to have a QB who has the presence of mind to throw the ball away rather than to "kick ass" and eat the football.
If McMoron is going to even entertain the idea of trading Jay it better be for Tom Brady not the lucky one hit wonder backup Cassell.
I would like to see Cassell win any games when half of his team has a groin injury. The Broncos need new trainers and develop some form of communication, other than internet rumor blogs.
Oh, and in case I wasn't clear F*** NO Jay should NOT be traded. He is the only thing that has gone right for the Broncos since our Superbowl years.
http://ddsuperblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/accordi...
Should I mention Elvis Grbac, Jeff Hostetler, Bananarama!
I thought the move to hire McD was risky because he was an inexperienced coach, now we see that he is a VERY inexperienced leader!
DANGER
JAYS MY GUY!!!!
Wonderfull Wes
And Jay, play for the other players and the fans. The poll on here says that 92% of the respondents think McDaniels is insane if he instigated this. And the other 8% are probably just Raider fans trying to be d-bags. You're freakin' awesome and definitely wanted here. Hopefully this is just a huge misunderstanding.
I think Cutler is right to be taken back with this news. I just hope he's responsible enough to see through the B.S. and get over it quickly. Even if there is one idiot in the organization that actually "entertained" the idea, Bronco-nation loves Jay Cutler and see him as our franchise QB.
This is NOT your team. Bowlen signs the checks.
Jay, calm down be a man and realize its part of the game. For now you are a Bronco. If a trade ever happens, I don't think it ever will, but if it does. Remember you'll get your money anywhere.
One last thing if Tampa or Detroit had offered their first round and Cassel. I wouldn't have blamed the Broncos for going for the trade. But again it didn't happen he is a Bronco and hopefully mature enough not to let this guide him through his career.
Can you give me one reason we should take your comments seriously?
First, a FOOT taller? So either Cassel is a giant, Cutler is a midget, or you are an idiot.
Second, Yeah SLIGHTLY better percentage and less picks but Cassel also had less TD's and alot less yardage. Cutler also had many more attempts which usually hurts your completion percentage. And Cutler didn't have Randy Moss and he didn't have a defense that made him play catch up. Not saying Jay doesn't have a great receiving core but i believe Marshall had more drops than anyone in the league. You keep a young core together and let the talent mature into a dynasty. With Cutler, Marhall, Royal and Scheffler they have proved they can dominate on the offensive side of the ball. The kid has had some growing pains but he is a young QB in this league. I have been a bronco fan since early Elway years and i have lived in Baltimore my entire life. Cutler is the player I have been waiting for to fill the void of Elway leaving. He's played TWO full season's and has showed promise. I agree he is top 5 in this league. How many other QB's had to play against defenses last year that ABSOLUTELY KNEW THEY WERE THROWING THE BALL? And Cutler was still amazing.
Sorry folks for the long rant but in closing i have no doubt that Bowlen knew about this...He should have made it clear to the young punk when he signed him that we are NOT trading our franchise QB, no matter what.
Make things right Pat
Ya maybe we could get more duds by trading our one good marble. Sheeezzz bring back Shanahan, obviously we have a rookie coach. I think Micky D needs to be benched, what a clown. Perhaps we could trade him for a Big Mac or a Happy Meal but that might be a stretch.
Perhaps they should save us, and themselves, embarrassment in the community that once knew them as a success.
The City of Irwindale is beckoning to them. Why don't they just move out west and become the Los Angeles/Irwindale Broncos?
Don't worry Cutler, you can do better.
Looks like the Broncos are headed for some low times. This is about the stupidest thing I've heard of from the Broncos in a long time.
Yep, Mr. McDaniels is showing what a naive young man he is.
I hope McDaniels is busy mending fences.
Shut your mouth, man up and LEAD the team!
But OTOH, I'm not pleased at all by the apparent dedication McDanny seems to have for Patriot players. Jeff, you're a Bronco now. Focus on that and put NE behind you.
I will say, to be fair, that the other signings seem very thought out and are addressing some needs.
Give Cutler a defense and see what happens.
I've lived outside of the Denver area for sometime, but having NFL Sunday Ticket allows me to watch my beloved Broncos every week. I only hope that Mr. Bowlen gives Danny Snyder a call and ships Jay out here to Washington. If this is how the new Broncos are going to operate, count me out!
The punkster Bowlen hired is in way over his head.
The Bronco's problems had to do with defense and lack of a running game, not one of the most prolific passing attacks in football.
This article should never have been published, because it's another case of the media blowing something out of proportion. Teams call each other all the time, just like the Bucs calling coach Mac and saying, "Hey, we have an idea - how about you send Jay to us, we'll send our first round pick to you, and you can call your old team who is known to be peddling Cassell, and so you can get him with our pick for Jay" .... that's all, nothing more.
Nowadays in the NFL, teams HAVE TO LISTEN to all offers. It's a business just like many others and deals are offered all the time. Look at it this way - would a team hold on to a player regardless of the offer? Of course not!!! There is some price that will take ANY player away from their current team. Even Tom Brady or Big Ben could be traded away for a couple of first round picks or so - guaranteed. I don't blame Jay for his initial response, and he'll be fine once he finds out that this was media hype far more than fact.
The mistake made by the Broncos is not trading Cutler, but how they are going about it. They should have finalized the deal before letting it leak out. Now if were stuck with the guy for 2009 he will have an excuse for under performing. Plus his trade value is already plummeting.
Show me another quarterback who's as bad as Cutler at hitting a receiver in stride on a deep route. You can't. The kid has no touch. The best thing for us is to make a clean break and cut our loses.
Living in Nashville I have watched Cutler carry a team to success at Vanderbilt. He has been expected to do the same in Denver and has consistently maintained a great passer rating, ran a very comprehensive offense, and went to the Pro Bowl. As a long time Denver fan... I am sick that the organization is treating him this way.
Would not doubt he seeks to go where Shanahan goes... after all at least he gave him respect and worked to build an offense around his Pro Bowl skills
There is no reason to even entertain an offer. Unless the BUCS say they have a time machine and can bring back Elway from 1987 even talking about trading Cutler is horrible.
You know what this would be, the NFL karma gods striking revenge after we stole Elway from the Colts for a first rounder, Herman and the other guy.
Go ahead and keep him ...and start looking up at the Chiefs and the Chargers!
Cutler is the man in denver, on and off the field. Pat Bowlen has to step in and tell josh to shut his mouth. After one year he thinks cassel is good enough to take cutlers job, NO WAY. We need JAY to win football games.
TRADE MCDANIELS for STEVE SPAGNOULO
This reminds me of something..... Oh yeah, Green Bay! Man, do we need anymore distrackions?????
1. Williamson: his reported rumored to the San Fran Cronicle and to ESPN are different; one says the Broncos were "shopping" Cutler while the other says that Tampa, Minn, and Detroit contacted Denver putting forth potential trade thoughts. DID THE BRONCOS EVER ACTUALLY TRY TO TRADE CUTLER?! Look at the deal Kansaas ichy put together for Cassel--there is no way Cutler would have fit into any such deal. My guess it was a suggestion by teams deparate for a QB who thought they might be able to push around the Broncos young coach. CONCLUSION: THE MEDIA CREATED THIS MESS AND NO SUBSTANCE IS BEHIND IT.
2. Blaming McDaniels is nuts. Trade proposals usually go through the GM office, not the coach. My guess is that the reported discussion about trading Cutler consisted of Xanders staff telling McDaniels that teams were interested in, McDaniels said no, and that was that. WHY IS THE GM GETTING OFF THE HOOK AND MCDANEILS AND BOWLEN GETTING ALL THE BLAME. All of this is the GMs fault!
3. Pathetic leadership from the GM and Coach. Why has there not been a press conference to clear this up. Its dumb to even need one--see Cutlers whinning below--but given Cutlers response, why haven't they responded appropriately? IS THIS THE NEW BRONCOS LEADERSHIP?
4. Grow up Cutler. The kid has amazing talent--the reason why he should not be traded for any reason ever--and has a good chance to be a top QB. His flaws as a QB are his immaturity in reading defenses, overreacting, and forcing things. His reaction to media and football politics are no different. WHY IS IT THAT HE HAS A TEMPER TANTRUM TO THE PRESS TWO HOURS AFTER THE FIRST RUMOR REPORT AIRS? Cutler, I am a big fan and want you to lead the Broncos, but take a deep breath and keep your mouth shut for 24 hours, have confidence in yourself, and talk to your agent and coach first.
In conlclusion....
A) Xanders and McD need to hold a press conference and clear the air
B) Xanders needs to offer a no trade clause to Cutler to prove their intent or completely redue his contract now to regain his confidence
C) The Broncos, Cutler, and the fans need to realize that Cutler is the franchize QB and will be here for years--make this work.
Trade and get Warner?... Seriously, he has two years left in the league. What do you do in two years? Dumbest idea I ever heard.
Cutlers a bad QB?... uh pro-bowl year right? how many yards did he through for? How many running backs and how bad was the running game this year? Give him a defense so he doesn't feel like he has to score every possesion and solidify the running game so he gets <30 attempts/game and he will be a top 3 QB.
No time to develop Cutler?...its his thrid year, he has a lot of development still needed. I'll give him two more year before I really start worrying about the mistakes. Last time I checked the Broncos were not in any spot to win the superbowl, so what is the big hurry. Goal is to be in the SB in 2-3 years I think--right when Cutler shoud be read to do it.
Don't blame Jay for the mediocre record because his defense has been horrible since he's been here.
Yes, he does throw picks, but the man can play and you can see him getting better and better. I would only take a handful of QBs over Jay. He is a terrific young QB and he IS THE FRANCHISE of this team.
Jay, the fans like myself have your back. Get over this quickly and channel your energy to show your new coach how wrong he was that something this stupid even crossed his mind.
What a great start to your career Josh. You've just alienated Broncos nation and things will get even worse if you have a terrible year in 2009.
Jeff(Iowa)
McD and Xanders were clearly talking about a Cutler/Brady swap!
that would make sense, unless it was Cutler for Cassel, the patriots waterboy and Belichick's personal tailor!!!
http://www.buscook.com/component/option,com_con...
If McDaniels lets Cutler go, then Broncos fans should boycott this season.
I must say the comments of some of the Bronco fans are to be expected. Yes I am a huge fan, born and raised in Colorado and still live here.
Shanahan only had the Broncos as contenders when Elway was the quarterback. That is a Fact! He was ABSOLUTELY terrible with personnel.
Give the new guy a chance.
Some stats for all of you Cassel Haters and Cutler Pumpers.
These are facts:
Cutler has not won in college or the pros. His record is 17-20 with the Broncos. Cutler threw 2 picks in the last game. Cassel is a leader.
Cutler: QB Rating 86 (16th in the NFL)
Cassel: QB Rating 89.4 (10th in the NFL)
And for the people that said Cutler does not get sacked. It's because of his O-Line. He should have even better stats because he has all the time in the world to throw.
Stop hating on Cassel. Cutler may indeed someday be better then Cassel. But as of right now he just isn't.
Cutler is a jerk. Look at his reaction to all of this.
Broncos fans think before you react with such hate and stupidity.
I will admit McDaniels screwed up by not getting it done. Do you think this would even be a story if Cutler had not started crying to the national media?
Yes I do miss the class and caring of Elway. Once in a lifetime.
Now lets look at this argument that Cutler is a loser and always be. After all he lost in college so he will lose in the pros. Since when does college play always translate into the pros. Even the beloved Tom Brady shared time with Brian Griese. Brian Griese was the starter for most of the season with Michigan. Peyton Manning could never win the big game. Philipp Rivers played for a mediocre NC State team that made a couple of bowls, and Eli Manning played for an Ole Miss team that went 7-5 his senior year and lost to Nebraska in a Bowl game. So that argument does not work.
Now lets look at Cutler as a loser in the pros. He has started for 2 and half years with a team that has underachieved. He has played on the opposite side of a defense that has not had a pass rush for two years. You are right, Matt Cassel went 11-5 this year. What you are neglecting to mention is that he went 11-5 with virtually the same team that went undefeated last year until the Super Bowl. He did it with a team that had the most explosive offense of all time, which by the way was nowhere near as explosive with him at the rains. What is more he was doing it with a team that had a coherent defense. I think you are foolish, those that are calling for it, to say we want Cutler out because he is not winning. The Giants said the same thing about Eli Manning at one point, remember.
Bottom line. Where Cutler goes, I go because I am not going to watch a 33 year old coach destroy a team because of his offensive preferences. So what if Cutler is a whiner, so are most athletes.
And as for cutting Mike Leach, perhaps the best long snapper in the league, for an inferior ex-Pat, to hell with that. The Broncos were going to, and winning, Super Bowls long before New England was anywhere close to respectable. We have our traditions, and let's keep them ours. No more idiotic moves for NE players, please.
So McD, if you're reading this, if you trade Jay Cutler, I'll buy a Chiefs hat, a Raiders T-Shirt, and make Philip Rivers my friend on Facebook. Ass.
What does mister Bowlen think about this anyway? "Oh, my young, brilliant head coach would never do that! I doubt we will hear that from Bowlen. Reason why he would not publicly utter those words - because he would be calling all of those teams in the NFL that have talked trade for Cutler liars, as well as calling a franchise QB (Cutler) a liar as well.
Josh McDunce is lying, he is like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar but claiming it was not him. He is insulting the intelligence of every Broncos fan by thinking he could pull the wool over our eyes.
People talk about Jay's maturity level at his job, I think he is doing an awesome job and I agree that he is ahead of the learning curve, as for McDunce, he may be mature enough to hold Jay's helmet. Then again, he may try trading the helmet for a worn out pair of socks, a 1970's sweatband, and four used Band-Aids - then try and tell us he didn't do it.
Wake up Mr. Bowlen, he lied, he is still lying, and he will continue to lie because he is facing no repercussion for his lying. He just told you and everyone else in the world that he will lie to get his own hinney out of hot water.
Is this the type of person you really want running your football team? The rest of the NFL already knows Josh McDunce has no honor, the entire football world knows he has no honor, can you really tell us that you believe this liar has honor?
It is nothing more than a spat in the face to the Broncos fans if you do nothing more than turn a cheek to this Mr. Bowlen. Like Shanahan, it's time to admit to your mistake and correct it.
Right now I am nothing more than a Jay Cutler fan, I'll become a Broncos fan again when the person in charge of the Broncos makes things right, first with Cutler, then the rest of the football world.
We are pathetic because we have loyalty to our QB and are not bandwagon jumpers? I live in CA and there is no comparison between the loyalty of bronco fans and any team in CA. Not even close and I see it first hand everyday.
I hope this can get fixed because I WAS excited to see a Broncos team with a new look.
MC DANIELS YOU MUST HAVE FORGOT TO TAKE YOUR MEDS TODAY! ARE YOU CRAZY TO THINK THAT THERE IS ANY AVAILABLE QB OUT THERE WITH MORE HEART AND SOUL LET ALONE WITH MORE NATURAL TALENT THAN OUR LEADER CUTLER.
AS MANY FANS HAVE ALREADY STATED THE RECENT FREE AGENTS THAT WE HAVE SIGNED ARE GOING TO HELP OUR DEFENSE THAT IS FOR SURE.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THIS AND THE ONLY THING I CAN SEE IS THAT MC DANIELS NEEDS TO BE PUT IN THE STATE HOSPITAL FOR A 72 HOUR HOLD TO REGULATE HIS MEDICATION BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY OTHER EXPLANATION IN REGARDS TO THIS STUPID MOVE OTHER THAN THAT.
I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY THING OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS THAT SAYS WE NEED TO GET RID OF CUTLER!!!
SO, BOWLEN PLEASE FIX THIS ANY WAY YOU CAN EVEN IF IT MEANS SENDING MC DANIELS PACKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's not that bad at the position, and who knows Cassel might be a one year sensation.
McDaniels is an IDIOT. This whole trade stuff came out of left field. I'd be mad too. Sure it's a business but when the new coach decides to turn his back on the franchise QB then I think Jay has some right to be mad.
Stay strong Jay, I'm rooting for ya.
--Love, A Steelers fan
I can't think of anytime Denver fans have been asked to be so loyal. It better pay off Bowlen. We are arguably the most loyal sports fans in the world. We spend so much money on your Broncos while we could spend it on any of the eight million other things to do in Colorado. I’m sorry Pittsburgh, I’m sorry Nebraska, what else is there to do besides follow your football teams? Remember Bowlen people move here, vacation here…and those of us who call it home, well we’ve been generationally loyal to the Broncos (You definitely got us on Super Bowls though, Pittsburgh, and Skins fans have endured Snyder.) It would be nice if you, Pat, could set the record straight while we have nothing to go on right now.
By the way, stop ripping Cutler for voicing his mind. He has been at least honest. Is McDaniels being completely forthcoming right now? Cutler isn’t being a baby, he watching his back. Which apparently you have to do in Denver these days. Cutler doesn’t represent a selfish generation either. Remember, Elway refused to play for Baltimore.
You have some explaining to do Josh, mostly why, before a single game has been played, you can’t coach, or teach, players who were smart enough and talented enough to be considered a top five offence. Maybe you and Pat can get together again, have another eight hour meeting, hopefully some of us will still be around when you’re done.
With all this back stabbing and win without honor leadership we’ll be the next Dallas. Great.
How is the view from down there? Are you and the Lions getting along in first and second to last place?
Trade Cutler??? NOOOOOO
bad idea, bad to even suggest this!!
McDaniels has done a good job so far revamping this team, but trading Cutler is INSANE! This will hurt my Bronco support!
The defense needs revamping. The offense may need a little tweeking, but trade Cutler? No way.
I am a 30+ year Bronco fan and have attended most games for most of that time. That would be one of the worst moves made during that time.
Please keep Cutler!!!!
If that's what this move turns out to be (a phsychological one) then McDaniels is just as bright as they say he is. If they are really trying to trade for Matt Cassell all I can say...is this a joke? You mean the same Matt Cassell who wasn't even good enough to play in college? Hey he had the success he did in New England mainly becuase of the talent he was surrounded by. This guy will be average at best in KC. Hopefully the new coaching staff realizes that the offense hasn't been the problem in this town. So let the first year overall start on the other side of the ball please.
Good luck Josh and I really hope these rumors turn out to be merely psychological ones at that and do send the intended message to Jay Cutler and the rest of the team that no one player is bigger than the orginization.
Trade talk occur all the time. No one is ever "safe" from those.
Do you think if a team last year came to Shanny and asked what would it take to get Jay, he would have hung up?
No trade occurred. Jay is a bronco with hurt feelings. Hopefully he will get over it.
I love how this kind of news bring out peopl who love to callpeopl names. Now that is real mature isn't it?
And to those ticket holders who said they would give up their season tickets. So what there are plenty of other people waitng to buy them.
REAL true diehard Bronco fans would never ever give up their tickets. And to those who said they are done with the Broncos. Good riddance you fair weather bandwagon fans we don't need you.
Matt had the luxury of a great offense and a better than average defense.
Jay had a good "O" line with some future stars in the offense and the last time I checked everyone in the football world was wondering where Denver’s defense went. (I have heard rumors that they have an APB out for it as well.)
Matt's stats and numbers are not that impressive considering what he had to work with - the offense was not one dimensional, his options were not limited, and he had a DEFENSE to back him up as well.
Jay's stats and numbers WERE impressive for what he had - the offense was one dimensional, teams knew what we were going to do because... the team was one dimensional. Defense (two paragraphs up).
Jay threw more int's this is true, but he did throw that many more and he didn't have the supporting staff that Matt had.
To the poster named "Timbo", spell check is a very simple thing to do and you can't even do that - and you come here talking trash? Your posts are meaningless unless they are being graded by a 4th grade teacher.
To the poster "Mark", Matt is an average QB at best, and I can't wait until the season starts, and you think about your posts here, and shy away from posting here again, especially when next season is over and most fans in KC wouldn't let Matt clean their toilets. Matt will do NOTHING with a team as sad as KC -except lead the NFL in int's. <--- Write that down, it will happen.
Oh and Mark, it's inches - inches taller. Give an inch; take an inch - who cares when you’re talking feet.
I do of course expect the two of you to handle this well and keep you mouths shut and just put up with this, really, I mean - how dare you DEFEND yourselves when you do not see something coming?
If Jay reads this..WE WANT YOU AND NOBODY ELSE!!! You Jay Cutler are our QB, we want to grow old watching you sling the pig skin down the field!!!
1) Jay, your home is in Denver no matter what the press says. Bowlen has a history of standing behind great quarterbacks like you so don't worry too much, nor get your feelings hurt, last time I checked Bowlen trumps McDaniels and all of the management office.
2) Josh, welcome to Denver... we love our Quarterbacks here and are willing to stand behind them. Not sure why you allowed this to escallate to this level, I guess a rookie head coach mistake. by the way... if you were seriously thinking of trading Cutler, you may want to check the history of Elway and Reeves, Reeves went bye bye and Elway stayed in Denver to win two consecutive Super Bowls. Bowlen is a great owner and dedicated to the players that are dedicated to him, Cutler is the best overall QB in the league, raw talent, good decision making, a great leader, and all around just a great kid. You will look back on this moment as one of the biggest rookie mistakes you'll make in your career as you'll come to find out you've never worked with such a talent.
I respect Pat Bowlen, but can't for the life of me understand Mcdaniels being hired to mlead this team. The offense was without question heading in the right direction and even without Shanny, you still had Jeremy Bates to direct this now potent offense. So why didn't he make Steve Spagnuola, Rex Ryan, or hell even Gunther Cunningham, the head coach to get this stagnant defense going in the same direction. I've been a long time displaced Denver Broncos fan all my life(37yrs & hopefully more). It is branded on my arm and my bar is undeniable in who my favorite football team is. But if Bowlen allows this guy to come in, totally dismantle what we had on offense and try to make this the Denver Patriots I myself will have to cut my ties to this once great, respectable, organization. What happened to the claim, which now appears empty, that Bowlen was reclaiming control of this team.
Ok fans, you asked for this. "get rid of Shanahan" you said. Well, sometimes you get what you ask for. That was the first strike, hiring Mcdaniels was 2nd, and if they trade Cutler...YOU JUST F----N whiffed!!!! Mr. Bowlen, you made a mistake. Admit it, fire Mcdaniels, Xanders, & that loser Mike Nolan and start again. Let this team find their own identity. Not adopt someone elses.
I'm sure I won't be the only true fan to jump ship if a trade for Cutler transpires. At least I hope won't!

I would love the VIkings to get him. We have Tavares Jackson, Sidney Rice and Taylor as players to trade and picks. Let's do it.
Cutler has every right to be "rattled," I don't care what you say about it being a "business." It's also a "team" with "fans." If you destroy the team's identity, you lose the fans. See the Avalanche.

Trade Cutler, yeah that would be really smart.....IF your an IDIOT!!!!

Unfortunately the jury is still out on Jay Cutler's emotional and mental attributes. Only time will tell!
Think back to Jay's rookie year... your Broncos were on the way to the playoffs until Shanahan benched Jake Plummer (who was a jerk but was a winner) to start Cutler. He went 2-4 to help knock your donkeys out of playoff contention. But wait until Jay has a couple more years under his belt you all said...
So how many playoff games has Jay won ? Oh yeah, he hasn't taken them to the playoffs. When was the last time Jay Cutler was a winning QB ? He didn't win in college either (true, he did play for Vandy, but Vandy has done better since Cutler left with lesser talent). Cutler could become a winning QB IF he had an incredible team around him, but that's not likely to happen in the NFL today with league parity being what it is.
If McDaniels wants a blueprint for building a winning team, his best bet would be to look at what Jimmy Johnson did with Dallas- trade your overated marquee player who looks good on paper but really isn't as good as everyone thinks for as much as you can get for him before he has a few more years under his belt and the rest of the league figures out he really isn't that great. Cutler's greatest value to the team is on the trading block- he could help bring Denver back in much the way Herschell Walker "helped" Dallas win the Super Bowl. He sure as heck won't win it for the Broncos oin the field...
holds up, and he can control that
temper thing.
The Broncos didn't seek out the trade scenarios, they were called. Yes, Cutler is talented and undoubtedly our best offensive player. That does not make him the team. If someone better were available, listen. That doesn't mean that you are actively trying to trade him, just that you're seeing if the offer is valid.
Jay needs to grow a pair and drop the tantrum.
Give the coach a chance before you make accusations.
The problem with people like Cutler and others his age coming into all this money and fame is that they are spoiled and do not realize this is a business. There is no room for coddling their "sensitive, baby egos" and walking a tightrope constantly to please them. He has been coddled since his high school days through college and after a short 37 games thinks he is a superstart on the level of a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning and it is obvious his agent is coddling him also.
ESPN reports Cutler requested a trade after Shanahan got fired. So why doesn't he own up? ALL players on every team are ripe for trade offers. That is the business. You don't thik in some back room somewhere people haven't inquired about Brady or Manning or Romo? Or any other superstar?
Cutler's silence and refusal to meet with the coaches questions his manhood and leadershuip even more and a lot of former Broncos in this town whom I know personally are not resonating with his "baby act". It is tiring.
Let him develop elsewhere and let's find a leader who can rally the team and fans behind a PROFESSIONAL team, not a coddled bunch of overgrown babies.
Give the new regime a chance. They are young, aggressive and they are cleaning house to improve the Broncos. Fans yelled for change and now that it is coming they are all showing immaturity in backing Cutler before ALL the facts are released.
But a lot of what is the crazy journalists who love to create drama and controversy to sell papers and themselves as the ultimate sports pundit.
Trade Cutler, get a #1 from Detroit, get a good kid like Matthew Stafford, and let a solid journeyman lead the troops into the new system being created.

I sincerely loved watching #7 play, even though he killed my hopes and dreams often. The current rivalry between our teems is good for both teams, and the NFL.
Having said that, from what I've watched, seen, and read about and from Cutler so far....
He reminds me of Ryan Leaf... but with less talent.
Same head case, a bit narcissistic, a cry baby, and a lack of maturity. He's a real talent, but believe me when I say, talent isn't enough. Leaf killed our club not only for the time he was here, but in the recovery time afterward.
Jay Cutler is only good for the Chargers if he stays on your team. He fires our team up with locker room fodder, he throws way too many interceptions, and he folds under pressure and throws his team mates under the bus.
Denver deserves better.
Cutler himself says he doesn't play for his coaches or anyone else (listening fans) except his teammates. And goes on to say that if he is traded his bunch is basically going to tank the rest of the time they're here. With character like that this group is never going to amount to anything. Face it, we have gone that far south since the departure of Rod Smith and Al Wilson.
Cutler is extremely immature and Marshall is a extreme risk. If we can get Detroit's top pick (Stafford) and maybe more, for a couple of these guys (namely Cutler and Marshall) let's get it! Remember Hershel Walker?
Please, Pat Bowlen step in and make this right and if they can't get along let Josh McDunce go the way of Dan Reeves.
Please don't ruin our team McDumbsh**! Tell Cutler and Broncoland your sorry and that it won't ever happen again. Get on that D, we'll forgive you.
Go Broncos!
Maybe McD taped the conversation so he can clear the air????????????????
"Cutlergate"
Or maybe Cutler should ask Shanny for his lie detector machine?
His age is not the reason for the lack of maturity...it's his weak heart, lack of passion and dull personality.
"There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, it ill behooves any of us to speak ill of the rest of us."
Broncos mgt simply heard out an offer. That is not dangling your QB out there. That is business. Didn't Cutler ask for a trade when Shanahasbeen was fired?
Go out and rake the lawn, or something, anything. See you in three months when there's something to talk about. I'm going fishing.
I may be a complete stooge, but even I am not that stooopid to trade Chester Taylor AND a first round pick for your Whiny, Crybaby QB.
HAHA you loser fan. Go climb a mountain or something!
Coach Childress
Cutler's job is to make sure there is a "W" on the board after a game ... and he has not done that often enough. When he starts winning playoff games, he can talk. When Shanahan was fired, Cutler should have realized that no one is untouchable.
So get on board, Jay, or hit the road. Either way, stop whining before you erode what little confidence the Broncos have left. If you are the team leader, then act like it.

Wasn't that the guy that said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!" ? Wasnt' that him?
Anyway, to add irony to this exchange (this remark from Roger from Denver): "They should trade him for Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or President Obama."
How about "Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or a ham sandwich and a bag of Fritos?" I want something worthwhile in trade, not something useless...you know, something we all know is good, not something no one bothered to find out about...
Another thought: Practically the entire country loved the fact that the Giants beat New England in the Superbowl. Do you really want to have a franchise like New England?
Maybe Bowlen should look at selling the team, or moving it to L.A.
This is going to change this year . . . not only has the offense improved with the competition at RB and the addition of Gaffney at WR . . . but we managed to steal a lightning fast defensive backfield from the Dolfin’s with Hill and Goodman . . . and an All-Pro Brian Dawkins to mentor them along with the Bailey brothers helping tudor and punch the outsides . . . also getting Reid from Indy was huge . . . . and we haven’t even gotten to the draft yet . . .
This will not be the same defense Bronco fans have endured the last three years! . . . I’ve already posted on other blogs that we will win the Superbowl next year . . . . most tired of hearing negative BS, maybe you are too . . . let’s start looking at the cup 4-5th’s full . . . . this is going to be an exciting year to come!
love the broncos have always enjoyed watching jay play. to compare him to cassel is unrealistic. Jay is not a back up and never will be for years to come. has everyone forgotten one of the best back-up qb's we ever had in kubiac! he was johns back up for years and when he got his chance to perform he did it well which is what he was trained to do. the difference in kkubiac and cassel is that kubiac could have sarted in a lot of places but chose to stay and plau for the team that drafted him just like john. jay is loyal and will become a great qb, just give him some time mc.
This being said, if McDaniels gets all the credit for mentoring Tom Brady into a great QB and working with Cassell to salvage the Pats season last year why wouldn't he want the chance to work with a guy like Cutler that already has a good thing going here. Also I wouldn't really consider Cutler as being a cry baby over the situation. I'd be pretty ticked if I just got done setting a new franchise record for passing yards and I was going to get traded.
I now live in Minneapolis, MN.
Please continue to be as stupid as you have been in Denver.
You got rid of your SuperBowl Coach.
Please, please continue these thin-aired thought processes and trade Cutler to the Vikings. We have plenty of bad quarterbacks for you.
You know you want to. Come on, the Vikes have a deal for you.
I want a happy Cutler playing for a happy Broncos coaching staff and team as much as anyone, but we're faced with the real possibility of that just not being possible. Regardless of whoever is at fault here (probably some of both sides), Jay may be of the mindset that he'd NEVER be willing to play for the Broncos again.
They obviously need to exhaust all reasonable efforts to reconcile this a stupid situation. But if that fails, we're gonna have to start looking at a trade.
this. He is not a crybaby (you can trust me) He is a winner !!!! not a
whiner, you fans better demand that Jay is found and back in Denver
on Monday or your franchise is going to take one BIG step back
Lot's of luck but it's probably too late. Maybe you do deserve pretty
boy Matt, then you will really sing the blues.

As to Cutler: Well, I still haven't read an answer to the question of why a team with a 3 game lead - if memory serves - for a "sure thing" spot in the playoffs just didn't bother to come out and play for the rest of the season, and wound up losing their last 4 - was it(?) - in a row. Bowlen fired Shanahan - more or less the usual approach: Blame the coach. Fire the coach. - but . . . ? Isn't the QB supposed to LEAD the team to at least a half-way decent effort to make it look as if it was a group of professional sports personnel?
I used to think football was a TEAM game, and prima-donnas were found only on the opera stage. Those last games that were just thrown away makes one wonder. I've seen better football down in Class 1A high school leagues.
4 words: Bye, Jay! Good riddance!
