Broncos fans vent about loss to Raiders
Let's all pray that Shottenheimer starts playing for overtime with a 3-0 lead in the first quarter.
THE CHARGERS COULD SIGN A GUY FROM OFF THE STREET AND APPLY PRESSURE JAKE OR STOP THE RUN.
WE'RE AT THE MIDDLE POINT OF THE SEASON AND WHILE OTHER TEAMS ARE GELLING WE ARE STILL TRYING TO FIND A STARTING RUNNING BACK, A STARTING OFFENSIVE LINE, AND FINDING A WAY TO PRESSURE THE OPPONENTS QB.
Furthermore, the Bengal’s lit up San Diego with Palmer and Johnson...no offense to the Broncos duo, but I'm not sure Plummer and Walker can combine on that same level all the time.
Either way, I believe it will be a tough game that is decided by 7 points or less.
JP's points to win:
1) On offense, the Broncos must keep San Diego guessing. Now Shanny knows best, but on3rd and 1, I would go for a deep pass and on downs like 2nd and 8, run it. The next series do something different. It seems we get predictable on some of the games and the Chargers are too good to think we can simply over power them. Plus, I think we have had some success on the 3rd and 1 throwing the deep stuff to Walker.
2) We need to do well on 3rd downs and not turn the ball over....duh.
2) On defense, we need to sack Rivers often. Being a rookie I think the pressure can make a difference. In SD's two losses, Rivers was sacked 4 times by KC and once by the Ravens.
3) We need to force at least 2 turnovers. Against KC, SD turned it over three times.
4) We will need to account, as best as possible, for LT. He is on fire right now and is the key to SD's wins. In years past, Denver has shut LT down, but this time, we don’t have Gold on the field. Keep a watch on LT in the red zone where he occasionally throws a TD pass.
Nothing I've said is rocket science, but I wanted to say it anyway.
With a heavy heart my predication is SD 34, Denver 28.
In the end, San Diego is incredibly hot right now (and have been) and we barely beat Oakland. We have significant injuries and don’t have a running game. I was impressed with Plummer's game against New England and the Colts and think he will have another stand out game against SD, but in the end, LT will be our nemesis, scoring three TD's and rushing for 128 yards.
They call me the "Atomic Doughnut".
Denver will do fine.
San Diego has too many 'holes' in it's defense...
Watch out for KC though. They will be up for that game. The rematch in San Diego may also be much tougher.
If Denver is healthy they can beat anybody.
Lay off Plummer.
The season is far from over and the Shanny has spoken and says he will not repeat the Brian Griese fiasco.
You don't change QB''s in mid stride unless you're losing consistently. Cutler needs to play at some point, but not as a starter just yet.
Many of you would have benched the Elwaynator when he wasn't playing well and making bonehead plays and throwing interceptions...you just want something to gripe about.
The doughnut has spoken.
Denver 27-17
Matt, i find it hard to believe that you are even thinking about a Broncos - Colts rematch when it's questionable that we will get thru the next 4 games with more victories than losses. What Coyer should be concerned with right now is who is going to cover Antonio Gates. With Brandon out it leaves a corner or a line backer. Either way the Denver D is going to get burned early and often unless Coyer makes that his priority, not revamping the D for a rematch that probably won't happen. The Denver D is vulnerable. Indy, Pitts and Oakland proved it. The next 4 games will determine if Coyer has his priorities strait.
The AFC West has three tough teams. SD and KC aren't givemes. Denver will need to win this at home if they want to win the division. Plummer, Walker, et al, need to play big. Defense needs to stop Tomlinson and Gates and win the turnover department. Special teams needsbig
Footnote - I'm not suprised that Rivers has played so well. He was tremendous at NC State and has a real passion to win. Without Merriman, our offense can move the ball on the ground and in the air.
The Broncos have been lucky this way all year. We played the Chefs right when D.Huard started playing, he was not 'n-sync' with his receivers. The same held true with Tom Brady and the Patriots. The week we played them, Brady publicly said he really missed his starting 2 receivers and hadn't gotten timing down with the new ones. The Ravens and Browns offense was so offensive, they both fired their O-Coordinator not long after playing Denver. This Chargers team is like nothing San Diego has ever had. Strenght on offense and defense. But a few lucky injuries for us. Also, we never win at Arrow Head, that's just the way it is. Accept it. We win at Mile High, they win at their house.
Even Rod the God said it...so do your best to get behind Plummer...i know its tough but just give him one more good year
Evil Jake shows up, we lose by a lot.
Good Jake shows up, we win but it will be close.
Our boys are 7-2 and poised to go on top of the west, despite how "miserable" and "lucky" we are. Besides, even if we lose, we get another crack in a few weeks, so relax.
To the Charger fans - I like the fact that everyone thinks you're better than us this year. It will make the upcoming Bronco victory that much sweeter!
GO DENVER!!!!!! I want to see the ESPN analysts forced to mention you guys once in a while.
The only way Denver will beat SD is if SD gives them the game by making turnovers. If SD dosen't turn the ball over I dont think Denver will be able to outscore them. Denver's Defense is not going to shut these guys down they have way to many weaopons.
I cant believe they scored 42 points in 2 quarters last week.
This is a MUST win game for Denver, as they will not win in KC on thanksgiving.
SD 35
Den 24
Wait, before you Bronco fans pile on me, here's what happens next:
After Denver loses to KC and falls to 7-4 and is out of the Division race, Shanny will decide to bench plummer( and Rod Smith) and go with Cutler(and Kircus).
Cutler will spark the offense down the home stretch and denver will get into the playoffs as a wildcard team and shock the world by going on the road and beating Indy and San Diego. Than they will Kick the Bears in the Superbowl!!!
You heard it here first!
Football is a team game and because everyone in Colorado forgot that in the Elway years, you are quick to throw a guy under a bus because he isnt 16-0 with 5,000 yds a year.
Jake isnt spectacular but he is a good QB. And News flash - the only 3-4 games that really count all year is when you are in the playoffs.
Ill take Jake with pedestrian numbers and 3-0 in the playoffs this year over Peytons undefeated MVP numbers and a single loss in January
It sounds as if most of the people complaining on these boards never played a down themselves. If you had, you'd realize how stupid it is to start a first year QB in this situation.
I hope Jake wins a Super Bowl as much for me as a fan as for Jake to be able to shut all the idiots up. And there is no gaurantee Jake wont be back next year as starting QB so get used to trusting the team and the guy in charge knowing a bit more about the team than YOU.
"Jake and the Broncos will not only win this week, they are going to dominate the Chargers this week and here is my reasons. P.Rivers have never played at a place like Invesco a place where the best QBs in the league struggle. And he is playing the best defense he’s face so far this year, there will be no 42 points in the 2nd half this week. Tomlinson the great back he is has never had a great game at Invesco look it up. And finally the offense will put big points this week in the Big games this year Jake Plummer has been flawless, look that up to. So quit whining Bronco fans your starting to sound like those idiots at ESPN!!! "
Very, Very Unrealsitic View Billy..... Jake Plummer has been "Flawed" all season, you know it, any Denver Bronco Fan knows it (Check out the message board on the Broncos website)
As far as Invesco being a place where great QB's struggle...I didn't see Manning "Struggle" this year, I doubt Rivers will either seeing as how his pass rating is second in the NFL.
Finally, you are used to seeing the Chargers count on LT to beat the Bronks by himself, this year however, we have several more weapons to use, this will allow our offense to confuse the Denver defense. It will be a close game however I wouldn't be so confident that you are going to "Dominate" as you put it. Keep dreaming buddy!
What Bar is going to be open Thanksgiving night to watch the KC game? None.
Shanahan has Shottenheimer's number and Bronco Fan will make the difference. 21-17
what defense has the chargers faced that even remotely resembles the broncos??? let me see...the ravens. and they still beat the chargers. what other defenses did you guys play??? yes the broncos, have let opponents pile up passing yards, but those two games were against indy and pittsburgh at home. anytime you take out a running game, of course there's going to be a lot more passing. ya'll got to remember, denver has allowed the fewest points in the nfl. i think it's 12.3 a game. and we're doing that with a standard base 4-3-4 defense. highschool football teams use that....and we're still shuttin teams down. we hardly, if not, blitz, and if you look at the d-line once the snap goes, there's no stunting, we're not bringing up the safeties, no disguising...and we're still getting it done. now, if we did stunt and incorporate more schemes, imagine how dominating that defense would be. case in point, denver's d get's it done with pure athleticism. not taking anything away from the chargers d, they're solid too, but after merriman's drama....kind of hard to give him props. trust me, jake is frustrating to watch and if we do lose the game, which i don't think it will, it'll be because of him. our offense is definitely not in the same league as the chargers, but our defense, as simple as it is utilized, is better.
denver wins a close one....
This game is going to be won (or lost) in the trenches. if Denver's line gives Plummer any time to throw, it's gonna be a long day for my Chargers (our DB's are iffy at best, and horrible with no pressure). On the other hand, if our line can open a few holes for LT, we'll be that much closer to winning...Bottom line, this game comes down to which Offensive Line plays better.
It's gonna take a HUGE effort, since my Chargers can never seem to win in Denver.
Before the 2004 season, L.T. was going into the final year on his contract. Instead of potentially becoming a free agent, he decided to get an extension with a Chargers team that looked bad, saying in essence, "I want to win here."
Tons of respect for the guy. Hope he doesn't tear us up too bad Sunday!
GO BRONCOS!
Denver Broncos Total Touchdowns in 2006 = 14
LT's total Touchdowns in
2006 = 18
WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY THIS TURNED OUT TO BE!!!!!!
1) LT and many others on the Chargers are class acts.
2) Wait until the Chargers are at full-strength, then they will dominate at least the numbers should bare that out.
3) Broncos, enough with all the cheap knee shots. Igor Olshansky should have ripped Tom Nalen a new-one!
