Broncos fans vent about loss to Raiders
Best of luck to you Jake.
Then again, Plummer might just be a bum and moving to Cutler quickly could save the season.
In any event, Plummer needs to settle down personally and stop road rage behavior. A good shave and haircut wouldn't hurt either.
if u saw Jake during the national anthem before the KC game you knew he was done...he looked way stressed and not the happy Jake of old
I keep hearing how "the season is over" if they put in Cutler, however Jake has been making his share of mistakes and he's been in the league many years. If Cutler can just be efficient with the offense-he doesn't have to put up gargantuan numbers-it will be an upgrade to keep the opposing team's offense off the field and let the defense rest.
Too many times Jake has faltered in situations where A. The offense really needs to hold onto the ball and B. The offense has a chance to win the game. His play has been shaky and inconsistent; do you really have a lot of faith in this QB coming into the playoffs? You can't tell who's going to show up in the games, will it be good Jake or bad Jake?
I know it's a different animal, but in preseason, the first team offense went three and out quite often, something that has transitioned into the regular season. Especially after three passing situations. On the other hand, Cutler was always moving the offense (scoring or not), he was always driving and often making good decisions to keep drives alive on third downs.
It's not like we are going to go very far even if we do get that # 2 wildcard. The whole team is on the out's because of one guy. Don't get me wrong Jake did the best he could. But sometimes that's not good enough. Business is business. That simple. Cutler get's some practical experience. The team is rejuvenated by the potential for a good year next year. Maybe Rod and Lynch(who you know would probably throw in the towel at the prospect of another year of bad plumbing)go for one more. Champ and Javon are less likely to try and cut and run.
Is Plummer getting a raw deal?:
Did someone tell him life and the NFL would be fair? The only place for loyalty in this league is in Dallas. Why Romo did not start this year........Whoops off track. This town and this team and it's coach expect Elway. Fair? Hell no. Reality? Yes.
Is this the Jolt they need to correct a Two game losing streak?: Nobody knows. But you have to speculate that it can't have a negative impact. The kid can flat throw the ball and shanny was beautiful in grabbing him when all those other clowns were chasing down Vince, Reggie etc.I mean cmon'if you play for Denver and your planning on being there past this year how can you not be motivated. The kid is going to look like something from the class of '83. Watchout though the next few weeks could surprise and give hope to those of us who's heads have been spinning. Anyone can give up on there team. That's easy. Loyalty is sometimes painful.
BROOO OOOOOO OOOOON NNNNNNN COOOSS.
Since Jake has been here we have made the playoffs. Its all on Jay's shoulders now.
Its too bad he has to come in with a fraud for a defense, a running game in turmoil, and one reliable receiver.
GO BRONCOS
Cutler has more natural talent; bigger frame, bigger arm. He proved his toughness by starting at Vanderbilt in the brutal SEC, where he never missed a start. He is tough.
Good luck Jay Cutler; Just play the game man.
Sure, we can blame Plummer for his more often than not bonehead mistakes, but he shouldn't be the fall guy for this teams' glaring faults.
Let's face it-they miss Kubiak's offensive leadership and coddling of Plummer and Anderson's tough runs up the middle. They miss having consistent, pass catching TE. They overestimated Scheffler's ability to replace Putzier, and Marshall's ability to fill in for Lelie. And they're paying dearly for it now.
Cutler was gonna get his shot sooner or later. Looks like it's sooner than later. But he alone won't cure this team's offensive, defensive and special teams woes.
The only fall guy here is Shanahan. Put the blame squarely where it should be shouldered.
GO BRONCOS
a rb is much needed. i dont understand mike bell, he seems like hed be a fantastic runner, he shows so many flashes, but with pitt game and kc game, he was terrible. he runs right into the defenders sometimes 4 no reason, i dont get it. tatum is awful, hes pretty fast, but he cant cut, and he uses his arms and throws them in the air to change direction, often fumbling. and he has the worst hands 4 a startin nfl rb in the league.
and with scheffler, we shouldnt be commentin on him yet. were using mustard and stephen 4 blocking cuz shanahans tryin 2 protect plummer as much a possible. once jay steps in, hopefully the oline wont look as bad.
and 4 the defense....does darrent williams not no wutsup with comeback routes. the opposing team does the same thing over and over again. start foxworth, and switch often. and we need to get alot of safety help, lynch is terrible in coverage, and hes not as good against the run as he was. hes so inconsistent. sometimes hes great, sometimes he looks like a rookie. i like ferguson, but cox is terrific. maybe hes always there at the right time, but he makes plays on special teams and that big day against pittsburg. they should def rotate him in more than usual nexxt season. or switch ferguson over to fs. the dline is still underrated. we only rushin 4, and were not even doin half as bad as everyon says we r. lang and ekuban r fine players. myers WAS having a big season. i havent heard nethin from "big money". we just payed the guy like 36 mill but hes got bad toes. def need to reshape this team. the last 2 losses hurt. if they wanna get to the superbowl, they better run the tables.
Where is the play book that took the Broncos to the S.B? I see the same old plays week after week
Jay looks like an exiting Q.B. but don't through him to the wolfs yet
Good luck Cutler!!!!!
You don't remember the really bad times in Bronco History. Jake is'nt all the blame,no running game,no defense, not much coaching, Offense or Defense. Not keeping John Lench in the box more.Especially on running plays. No imagination on Offense. Mike & Larry to Blame.
It's not Jake's job to get the team to the stadium.
The team that did not show up for Jake at KC won't show up for Jay at Seattle.
Mike's the coach, and that needs to change
2. The two offensive tackles are a problem.
3. Al Wilson is overrated.
4. So is Ian Gold.
5. Best of luck to Cutler......he'll need it.
Overall, Plummer wasn't that bad. Remember this time last year when he was setting records for attempts without an interception. As described in other posts, he clearly doesn't have the line or weapons that Elway had in '97 and '98. He obviously did have some bad games, but for most of the time he was here, he did enough.
It should be interesting to see how Cutler does. I think he'll have ups and downs, while the Broncos either miss the playoffs or lose in the first round. The real question is how he'll do next year.
In the off season, how about a bona fide pass rusher? Or a better than average defensive coordinator?
I am almost as excited as when we won the first Super Bowl but I have refrained from running up and down the streets yelling and screaming!!
Please let him be the real deal or we are in a world of hurt next year.
I think there are many problems to sort through on this team.
1. Fundamentals. When the D has a poor game, there are many missed tackles and blown coverage. There were 6 or so dropped passes in the KC game. Some of these would have kept drives alive, and LJ off the field. I think this is the easiest thing for the Broncos to fix. How many Super Bowl champions do you see drop passes and blow coverages?
2. Confidence. Shanahan voiced his confidence in Plummer by drafting Cutler. This has been reflected in his extremely conservative play-calling that makes this team 1-dimensional (note the lack of running game in losses). He puts Jake in singleback big formations with one or two crappy receiving TEs, an aging Rod Smith. This only leaves Javon Walker, who has been less effective of recent as he is double-teamed.
When Shanahan puts Plummer in the shotgun, with a spread formation he gives him more time and options. Did anyone else notice how effective he was in the KC game in this formation.
This blame is all on Shanahan for putting a gunslinger in handcuffs. After seeing the shotgun work, why not continue using it? I guess that would be the easy answer.
Hopefully the Elway God will speak to them over their "bye" week.
Last year showed us that, when we had it all set up. But, I liked the moves. Give him a big weapon (Javon), run the ball and play great defense. Draft Cutler and give him a year to learn, while giving Plummer one more shot to go one game farther. Seemed like a perfect situation.
I had no idea that Jake would react like this.
I kept thinking Jake would come around this season. I kept thinking for once, we'd get hot and dominate at the end of a season versus early like we do every year. The Indy and Pitt games gave me hope with that.
But that offense simply is not doing the job. I'm not letting everyone else off the hook at all. The D is not getting key stops in any of these losses. The special teams stink. And the running attack is very inconsistent.
But the running game and passing game go hand in hand. Both have to have some success or the opposing D can focus on the part that is working. People always talk about needing to run to open the pass. Same goes the other way. Jake needs to be able to drop back and complete some passes and HE JUST CANNOT DO IT!
Teams are protecting against the boot-game and he just looks bad when he is forced to drop back and throw from the pocket. He doesn't set his feet, he doesn't step into his throws... he looks uncomfortable. This isn't really news.
I think this is what Shanny is thinking. He even mentioned the drop back passing as a problem last week. Cutler is a classic drop back passer and will hopefully be more comfortable in that role. If he can make some throws from the pocket, the running game should gain more consistency and the boot game will probably be there again to hit some big plays.
I don't want this move to happen, but Jake's play has forced the issue.
All those saying Jake isn't the only problem are dead on. I'm more disappointed with the defense than anything else b/c I thought we really had a dominant D for once, but Jake also isn't saving any of these games and that is his job. He is the quarterback and he needs to lead this team to wins.
What a powerful teaching tool....let's see if it worked on Cutler, I hope he picked the correct plays to learn from and I'm sure they were obvious. Not throwing to the guys in the wrong color jerseys, falling down, or tossing impossible passes to receivers that can't jump 10 feet or pick balls up from below the field of play.
I'd like to think Shanny was just holding his cards close, but he really held 'em too long.
As a BIG Bronco fan since moving here from Minn in '70, I've had THOSE fan moments....but after almost having a coronary during the '97 game with Green Bay I can handle whatever happens with the team. GO BRONCOS!
Unfortunately this team hasn't had a consistent, meaningful pass rush for a long time, and everything else on defense gets screwed up because of it. That isn't Jakes fault.
While I'm at it, somebody tell me why hasn't the special teams coach been fired yet???????
Hopefully the Broncos find some rushing and help Jay out as he really starts his career.
Go Broncos!
Shanahan knows that there is no talent on offense on this team and his defense is aging. The move allows him to buy some time to find some talent. A te, rb, 2nd WR and o line will help Cutler.
LETS GO BRONCOS!
Keep your fairy tales to the comic pages and fictional stories by Denver Post sportswriters.
For all those calling for Shanahan's head....I would argue that he has actually done well to get 7 wins with this group of players. They are old and slow at several key positions.
I would, however, like to see a new Defensive Coordinator next year.
Thanks Jake. Good Luck Jay.
Tom W.
Although Jay Cutler will not be the solve all, the hope is for a little more consistency and fewer game altering mistakes.
And based off what we saw in preseason, with a dumbed down offense similar to the Steelers from last year, anything is possible.
Gor the first time since Elway retired is there legitimate hope back in Denver.
Go Cutler! Go Broncos!
The Broncos problems are far from being addressed by this move and the problems begin at the top. What happened to putting your players in the best position to perform to their abilities Mike? What happened to playing to win as opposed of playing not to lose Mike? You have lost sight of what it takes to win in the NFL. You have to be agressive on both sides of the ball, something we have most certainly failed to do this year. Playing passive on both offense and defense has been the biggest downfall of the team this year. The offense and defense is so predictable it's a wonder that we have won any games this year. Unless Mike changes more then just the QB, nothing is going to be different. It's time to change it all up. Get agressive and creative on offense and defense. Get the blitz going, get our CB's up in the faces of reciever's and knocking them off their routes and on their asses before they get off the line. The prevent defense only prevents us from winning. No pressure on the QB and they sit back and pic the secondary apart. Get the QB moving, rolling, running, flea flickers and gadget plays to keep the opponents defense honest and confused. Be the Mastermind again, not the current Muddlemind you have become. Coyer is your puppet, pull the strings and lets get in their face nasty on D.
Those are the Broncos that WON Superbowls, and those are the ones it's going to take to do it again! We have the players, unfortunately we lost the creative and imaginative coach we used to have somewhere. Ok, I'm done. Good luck to you Jake, wherever you end up!
Denver fans expect Cutler to become the heir to Elway's throne. Why not start now? Can Cutler win 3 road playoff games leading Denver to it's third Super Bowl ring? I believe he can and will!
Lets Go Broncos!
Coach, if you read this, and Plummer/Cutler, Team, if you read this also:
1. Replacing a QB mid-season is always a bad thing, you only have to look at past stats and what it does to team moral/planning to see that.
2. Plummer/and team is under tremendous pressure to make a super-bowl. Why not ease the pressure a bit on the QB and let him have some room to produce? He is throwing interceptions because he is fighting to make plays that cannot be made - slow the passing game down a bit and let the offensive line toughen up a bit.
3. This reminds me of the Redskins QB debacles that they have had for the last few years, constent switches with no results, and they settled back on their old fall-back - don't get into that mire.
Anyway, I am not a coach and love the games, but I think there should be some fan/team/coach loyalty, and a strategy that slows things down a bit and give Plummer a chance my win the day.
Cheers and good luck.
Bill
Jake Plummer is a fighter, and makes mistakes because he has the athletic ability to stay alive long enough to try and make a play. When his offensive line is being run over. Cutler won't perform any better because the Bronco's offensive line could not protect an old lady crossing the street. At the AFC Championship game when Plummer was taking a beating by the Steelers. He appeared to be the only offensive player trying to make something happen, trying to win. The offensive line started breaking down in that game and has gotten worse this season. For further evidence, the running game has disappeared. I wonder if Mike Shanahan has given into peer pressure. I hope not. But to give up on Plummer, is to give up on the season.
I'm sick of hearing all the negative talk in Colorado about Jake Plummer. Since we live a mile high, its all down hill from here for Jake Plummer.
Jake I wish you all the success in the world where ever you go, and Superbowl Championship before your career is over, and I hope its against the Denver Broncos.
Fact: Plummer isn't a leader
Fact: Plummer's incomplete passes lead the defense to play to a grand majority of the 1st half minutes in the last 3-4 games.
Fact: This causes ALL defenses to perform poorly over time.
Fact: Brandon Marshall, Tony Sheffler, Rod Smith and Javon Walker are always open. Look at the # of plays where Jake throws to his 1st read and then look at the rest of the recievers and where they are.
Fact: In the last 3 games no defense has bothered to play their safeties in the back field.
Fact: That hurts the running game.
Fact: This team is better than the teams that Elway took to 3 super bowls before we won.
Fact: Elway didn't kick butt his 1st few years but showed multiple signs of greatness.
Fact: Plummer has been in the league 11 years and proven he can't learn
Fact: Plummers #'s are worse than 30 other QB's in the league. Guess what? Vince Young and Matt Leinert are playing better. ummm...oh yeah rookies.
It's about time we put in Cutler, at his worst it can't be worse than where we're at at QB.
Robert
It's become painfully obvious that this team has multiple shortcommings. We're asking alot of Jay Cutler as a rookie Q.B.. I happen to think that he has great upside and an arm that is Elway-like. We've come to a junction where Jake couldn't force defenses out of the 8 man box and our running game has suffered as a rusult. Can Cutler beat the 8 man front? We're about to find out.
Additionally, would someone tell Larry Coyer that playing the D.B.'s 8 to 10 yards of the line of scrimage on third and short is killing us. Attack, attack, attack, attack, attack....... Defense should be played in the offenseds backfield, not 15 yards in front of the line of scrimmage. Bring back Greg Robbinson......he would kill other teams with this tallent.
Poor Jake. Just look at his INT numbers over his career. It is awful save 2005. Good QBs give up 12 to 15 a year, but not 20 a year. I really think Jake is a great guy and a fine QB, but not in Denver. We expect a lot from our QB. But so does Miami, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Buffalo or any other city where a great QB has graced their field. Sorry, Jake. You've been informally sacked as our QB.
I compare Jake to Jim McMahon, Drew Bledsoe, Daunte Culpepper, and other not quite great QBs. I think Jake will go on to other places, but he'll know that he had his best shot in Denver.
I welcome Jay Cutler. Please don't be the new Brian Griese or Bubby Brister or even Craig Morton (I'm sorry Craig was old and way worse than Plummer). We all love John Elway and we always will, but for you our young Cutler, we are expecting great things. Great things. Good luck.
CHANGE YOUR NAME NOW!!!
Griese didn't do it, Plummer didn't do it. If you don't do it, you'll be ridden out of this town to.
Change it to:
Jay Elway
Do it now!!!!
We are missing 2 key people this year. Mike Anderson and Gary Kubiak. Mike was a power running back and he could "bull" his way thru...he wasn't pretty but he got the job done. Can we say that about Tatum, Mike or Damien? Hmmmm...
Gary Kubiak, he was THE offense. He settled Jake down, was a buffer between Shanahan and Jake...He, out of anyone, including John Elway, helped make Shanahan the Coach he is. Without Kube's presence the offense is scattered. The offensive line is missing Lepsis...Foster has been lazy...The O-line is breaking down, there's no protection for Jake...there's no help for the running backs. The tight ends have been a joke. Javon Walker has been the only bright spot on offense. Special teams are nonexistent. How many times has Jake had to start deep in Bronco's territory? He's deep in the hole before he even lines up! Defense was awesome for several games...but how can we expect them to be on the field as much as they have been lately? It's been 3 and out, 3 and out...poor offensive position, poor offensive play have forced the Defense to play more than they should be expected to. They are wearing out and dropping like flies! Now, Defense has it's own problems...Darrent Williams has needed help several times...he's been burnt quite a bit. But if the Defense was applying more pressure to the opposing team's quarterback...Darrent might not be toast. Jay Cutler is not going to line up and save this team. The are too many problems that need to be fixed before he's thrown to the wolves. He may be great, he might be the quarterback of the future, and it might be nice to see he gets some playing time, get some experience...but Cutler can't solve the team's problems...and neither could Jake.
Marti of SoCal
The Broncos glory years under Elway had a lot to do with a couple guy's named Schlereth and Zimmerman blowing holes and making time. I like Jay Cutler's talent but a couple of solid OL guy's would have been a better choice.
Also, not only is Al Wilson way over-rated but he's just down right poor in the MLB position. John Lynch is so busy playing LB#4 to cover the gap that major holes are left downfield. Al needs to go!
Not only is the Bronco's lackluster performance not all Jake's fault, it's none of his fault. Jay is going to be a big red target for seasoned pro's and I expect will get bashed up pretty good. Hopefully he won't get hurt or too shell-shocked to be any good in the future.
I think this change at this time is another big Shanahan mistake. He needs to go too.
I don't think Cutler is ready for that yet.
People who are ripping the defense are really clueless.
THe defense has played great this year and are just worn out from having to be perfect every game or Denver loses.
I think they can be forgiven for losing at Kansas City with 3 days to prepare and coming off a devastating loss to San Diego. They still put Denver in position to win the game when Williams intercepted in the 4th qtr. Plummer came in a laid an egg and than the defense had all the wind taken out of them.
The weak link with this team is the offense. Plummer has been awful this season and a real liability at QB. Cutler can provide a much needed spark for both the offense defense and coaches as well.
If denver can generate some firepower on offense, they are still a playoff and superbowl contender this year.
Shanahan is going to need to get his coaching mojo back. All these years with qb's like Griese and Plummer have really made him conservative and afraid to go for the win. He is going to have to let his QB make some plays. Maybe even on 1st down. How many years have we been watching bad QB's who can't convert on 3rd and 8???How about a QB who might actually be able to lead your team to a score in the 4th quarter???No defenses fear Plummer and have figured out that all the need to do is stack the line and stop the running game.
The offense has become like a clogged toilet, we need a plumber(not a Plummer) to unclog it and get it running smoothly.
I am really looking forword to watching Jay "The plunger" Cutler take over.
Shanahan and his crew is your main problem. Since elway.. Shanahan hasn't been able to pull this team to the Superbowl!!!! Broncos are the most inconsistent team out there. If the choice was to continue with Plummer then the coaching staff should have picked up some good receivers in stead of Cutler. Who is Plummer to pass to when dropped passes are common and the running game..that's another story all together. Shanahan the best at picking a running game... ok..Tatum bells two and three yards when he isn't injured isn't cutting it. Mike Bell isn't consistent with his cuts. If you have no running game and a lousy receiving team what is a quarterback to do? Take chances..and taking chances is what Plummer has done. Of course there will be interceptions when your receivers can't catch or can't run their routes properly. This is Plummer fault?
These are all signs of a failing coaching staff. Shanahan is washed up..and the real problem is the owner Pat Bowlin...for resigning a coach that can't pull a team together. You think Jake Cutler is gonna save this team.. how? With a weak receiving team and no running game I sure hope he can scramble!!!!
I do not blame Plummer alone for the Broncos losing. I blame him for a 50% completion rate and both he and Shanahan for not finding a way to score more than 10 points a game.
Shanahan keeps calling plays that SHOULD work as if he forgot who (Plummer) he needed to cater to before calling such a play.
Jake seems like he may be a little ill, but the O line does not give him enough time to even take the snap, much less make his drops.Let's face it, the Bronco's are over-rated.No solid runing back's, only one good corner back, no O line.Give Jake a break!
That being said, it will be exciting to see Cutler as a rookie grow with the team. I do believe he is a more talented QB than Plummer, but only time will tell.
I truly hope that Jay Cutler can rejuvenate this team and give it the spark, confidence and leadership it needs. Win, Broncos, win.
The defense is great early in the game. But spend too much time on the field. The team and the game needs to be balanced. I was looking forward to bragging about the Broncos season here in South Texas, but now it looks like I’ll have to suffer the taunting of those silly Cowboy fans.
Fact: More interceptions then TD's (this year people not last)
Fact: Defenses are stopping Jake and RB's...its obvious! They are daring Jake to beat them from the pocket. He isn't.
Fact: Our defense and special teams are at least as good if not better then last year. But they are at a disadvantage if our offense stinks it up.
Fact: Jake seems to have lost a step or his focus. Madden said it...this is what you get paid for...to get it done on 3rd down.
Solution: Jake simply cannot get it done. Last year was last year...he was better and has given his all. Thanks for your effort Jake. But does anyone really believe we can get to the promised land with Jake this year? Is the year over? Perhaps but let the rookie play it out. He'll get the experience he needs and if we go further great. Of course the team is not perfect. Lets fix what we can and move on.
To the people that are still making excuses for Plummer in this forum(chris, Jim B., Jeremy), we have your names and will be piling on you after every Bronco victory from here on out.
Give ME a break, and PLUMMER HATERS SHUT YOUR YAPS! The problems on this team run far deeper. Harry Truman said it best.
Yes Plummer should be taken out behind the shed and have some sense knocked into him. But 12-4, 11-5 gets you into the playoffs and you can't believe a kid, who hasn't had any real time to get some chemistry with the WR's or caught up to the speed of the NFl to win. This could ruin him and we could be stuck with Plummer or worse a David Carr for much much longer. Let's keep the Dream Alive for atleast two more weeks and get him ready for Arizona.
Love you Jake!!!
Practice and preaseason are in a different ball park thats what breaks the men from the boys ("rookie" "Veteran") I sure hope Cutler can pull a John Elway like many of you are betting on, but realistically, with an offense and defense in the shape they are in how do you expject a rookie to pull off what a veteran couldn't. A veteran who has taken us to the play offs several times. Remember Shanahan took away the players Plummer was using, who almost took us to the Superbowl and replaced them with inconsistant players. He basically set the Broncos up for a fall. Now he wants to remove Plummer. Shanahan is the one that needs replacing and his coaching staff. Elway took years to develop and look what he did. Elway screwed up many times but we stuck with it. Plummer is on the verge to making it, but he needs players that are consistant. Whats funny is that Plummer will be picked up by another team next year and they will beat the crap out of us. Then what will your excuese be next year...get rid of Cutler?
Having said all that, I think we have a very special quaterback in Cutler that at some time will be better than Rothlisburger ever dreamed of.
I also beleive Shannahan is still one of the top three coaches in the league and it is nuts to even talk about chasing him off.
As far as Jake goes, we've made him a very wealthy individual for all the unfairness we've thrown him. I don't feel too bad for the guy.
Jay will do a great job if the rest of the team supports him and does the job they are being paid all this big money for.
I wish Jay the best of luck and I hope his fans don't turn on him because the rest of the team and coachs faulters him.
GO JAY
But through it all - Jake has carried himself with dignity and aplomb. That should count for something. The king is dead - Long live the king.
no surprise.
the only reason he has a decent w/l record here should be to shanahan's and kubiak's credit. not jake's.
let's get on with the show.
Good luck Jay. They're gonna being coming for you.
Good job Jake, you deserve better.
Maybe one day, you'll have a top rate QB like Cincy has with Carson Palmer. Now there is a real QB. See ya Christmas Eve when we ruin your holidays.
Have you been watching the same games as everyone else.
Tell me one postive thing that Jake has done, cuase it wasn't out score our opponents.
Oh let me think we need to score to win..three steps and pass...complete...First down....enough said lets move on
When a coach asks his QB to "manage the game," he is, in essence, saying that his expectations of his QB is only slightly higher than his expectations of the retarded kid that retrieves the tee after a kickoff.
If you look back to Jake's years with AZ you will see that when he had a team he took them to the playoffs its when the owners decided to trade the entire team away that a QB is left holding the bag!!
BV knows the system and is better insurance than Plummer BV will accept the role a backup when the NEW "JC" gets injured
Your asking too much to ask Jake to come in under any circumstance he's now a deflated orphan.
Jake's coach, Fans, media and team mates humiliated the best Denver QB since Elway
Wake up folks...3-4 years before you seen another AFC Championship Game
i still maintain however that the main reason for the teams success over recent years is the ability to put anyone in at RB and get 1000 yard rushers. yes this year we traded to upgrade at WR, and a very good upgrade at that, but what has happened to the running game. Denver is a running team and Shanahan has messed with the backs too much this year. having started with mike bell he showed that he did'nt have confidence in tatum. next thing mikes out tatum's in. then damien nash gets promoted, then there's cedric cobbs. i know teams, including us last year, have had results with a two back punch but a four back punch? it surely only promotes confusion amongst the backfield as to who is "the man." our running game has been poor compared to previous seasons because shanahan can't just make a decision and go with one player, two at the most. he has done the same thing with jake, let him fall far enough so when he [shanahan] pulls the plug on him it does'nt look bad. yes jakes had a shakey season at best and i have despaired while watching games at 2:30 in the morning as another pass falls incomplete but whose calling these plays in the first place. we know jake is best when running the bootleg, anyone remember seeing one against kansas city?
jakes biggest problem was that his sirname was'nt Elway. i idolised john growing up i even wrote to him at the age of 9. no-one other 9 year old at my school knew what american football was let alone john elway. as denver waits for the next john elway i can't help but remind you that he was a one off and has retired a long time ago.
i wish jake luck with whatever he does, and hope jay is given a fair chance to succeed.
1st: All season long the play calling has not been to Plummer's strengths.
2nd: I think it is time Tatum Bell is traded, cut, or whatever--This guy has been injured to many games over the past 2 seasons.
3rd: Jeb Putzier--need I say more! Again, Shanny-han not realizing the TE is a big part of the Broncos passing game and failed to re-sign Jeb!
4th: Drafting WR's year after year that are BUSTS! Again--Shanny-han! Are we seeing a Trend HERE yet?
5th: Shanny-han not taking any responsibility for the Broncos Demize over the past 2-3 games! No adjustments on Defense, Special Teams, and Offense--Now he is blaming Plummer?
6th: Good Luck Jake wherever you land next year--You were the Broncos QB to lead them to the AFC championship, Better winning % than Elway. I have one request--When you come into INVESCO next year please take it EASY on Darrent Williams!
7th: Good Luck Cutler! I just hope the Broncos Fans, the Media, and the COACH do not throw you UNDER THE BUS when the ENTIRE TEAM goes South! I know I won't.
Go BRONCOS
Thank you for the quarterback change and giving us the division.
Fellow Broncomaniacs, take a deep breath. We'll be fine. Even if we won't be fine, we're still one of the best franchises in the league. It could be a lot worse!
