All Things Broncos: D. Williams senses something amiss

  • steve kern · 3 years ago
If there is anyone ready to give up on that defense, I think it's Darrent Williams himself. Nobody has been burned for more plays and more TD's than him. I think he is ready for this season to just be over. I know that the pass rush is not that good and exposes the corners a bit, but Williams is just not getting it done. I think it's time to let Foxworth have a chance at his spot. Williams is too young and not veteran enough to be calling out his teammates like this. I think it's time the Broncos quit putting this guy up on a pedestal and bring him back down to earth. I think Foxworth is more mentally tough and respectful of his teammates and his place on the team.
  • CL · 3 years ago
For Darrent Williams to say something to deflect the problems the defense is having to other people is what is expected. In 3 of the 4 games that the Broncos lost, who got burned? Indy, San Deigo (both games), KC, Seattle. Who has fumbled on punt returns, fielded punts within the 10 yd line. Darrent talks a good game but can't back it up. Darrent, stop trying to make the ESPN highlights and try to cover your man. If Shannahan can bench Jake, why can't he bench Darrent? Mike, bench Darrent!!
  • jason · 3 years ago
Are my eyes decieving me,is this darrent"toast"williams saying this.the guy who gets picked on week after week and couln't cover my uncle.i can't believe he is saying this, try making some tackles and stop looking at lynch ever time you get beat deep.Unbelievable, he's lucky if he's playing special teams next year. Can you say D'angelo Hall in a broncos uniform next year!!!
  • Bob · 3 years ago
Williams is probably right, but he better take a glance in the mirror. He, along with the under-achieving Brown-cos D line, no every down running back, only one big play threat at receiving. It looks like about 50 players on the roster have taken to blowing off a play or two in the last few weeks. Walker & Champ have been the only two on this team to show up every game. Free agency has killed this team and it will take a couple of years of new young players and some real good ones (thru free agency) to get the winning ways back. Get rid of the cancer's like the Brown's rejects, thank Lynch and Rod for their greatness but then show them the retirement brochure, and hire a defensive coordinator and special teams coach with a clue.
  • Joey · 3 years ago
I'm so sick of hearing crap like this. There hasn't been fire in this team all season, and it starts with our "Ho-Hum" tone at the top.

I would like to hear our coach say something other than "Oh the other team played great" "Oh we've got to get better" "Oh, I was pleased with Jay's performance"

Everyone has written off the Broncos. We have a four-game losning streak, and we're backed into a corner. We seem content to just take a seat in the corner. Most teams would probably be ready to tear someone's head off right now.

I think Shanahan has lost the ability to motivate this team. I can't handle hearing the same crap all the time, imagine how the players feel.
  • Alex · 3 years ago
D.Williams needs to really take a moment and look at the way he has been playing this season! he is the weak point in the Broncos Defense he has been and will continue to get burned.. he is overrated and the broncos need to find a cornerback who can actually defend a reciever!!!!!!!!!
  • edpo · 3 years ago
I read the story and I really do not doubt it one bit, the whole team is not up to par, the defense cant stop anybody the offensive line cant block, the receivers cant get any seperation, you cant win anything without a supporting cast, and the special teams should all be cut, they stink up the place.
  • Dave · 3 years ago
Darrent seems like he's all about pointing fingers at everybody else. How about actually covering somebody Darrent!!! You know going into games that their going to come at you since Champ's on the other side. Quit show boating, and cover somebody.
  • Josiah · 3 years ago
Figures "D-Dub" would say something like this...he has to deflect the attention his horrible play the last six weeks has created. It seems like every third-down play results in the other team picking on Williams and his soft, soft coverage. He was burned two or three times alone in San Diego for deep balls, and who can forget the Reggie Wayne show a month and a half ago. One other thing...why do we have these slouches returning punts and kick-offs???
  • Bronco Billy · 3 years ago
Darrent is definitely the weak link on our D. He may not be giving up, but he doesn't have to. He's going to get burned regardless. How are receivers ALWAYS behind him, and never behind the 'Champ'? Someone answer me that.
  • Annabell Perez · 3 years ago
Well yes Denver right now is having a huge slump & it does get to everyone but people can't just be setting eyes on Darrant Willaims he is only a second year player trying to improve things for his team. Give him a chance alot of good teams have been picking on him because hes new!!!!!
  • mike · 3 years ago
I don't believe a professional athlete would ever take a play off. They are doing something we all wish we could do and Champ is right if they don't want to be there please take off the Bronco Blue and put on some other uniform......We don't want you and we don't want to pay to see you play. By the way Darrant it looks like you have already been on vacation!
  • Chazz · 3 years ago
The clearest sign to me that the team was giving up was no one indicating to Shanahan that they should challenge LT's first TD. He likely scores on next play, but for a team that challenges just about every questionable call, I was suprised that MS didnt challenge, and more amazed that not one player on the field made any motion to the sidelines or the referees that LT hadn't crossed the goal line. I grant that its questionable whether you challenge when they're on the goal line with LT, but anything can happen--fumble, penalty. To me it showed no fight at a time that they were only down by 14 points.
  • Bill · 3 years ago
I agree with #7. It is probably true, but I bet it is even the case with the offense, not only the defense. About the Williams bashing: I don't think Darrent Williams gives up on anything, I actually think he plays pretty hard. It is his inexperience and over-agressiveness that gets him into trouble. I think more learning from the Champ will help. I still think a defensive coaching change would be a good thing.
  • jimmyc · 3 years ago
Why in the world is this guy doing ANY talking? He needs to be shut up in a film room watching the painful replays of him getting toasted again and again and again. I really liked DW in the begining and every corner is gonna get burned once in a while, especially playing on the other side of Champ. But he is unbelievably clueless it appears, guy is just terrible in coverage, and to make matters worse he's constantly showboating on the very rare occasions when he gets an int. ( like when Rivers threw it right to him), and talking as if he has shut down every guy thats lined up against him.
Hey DW.. you ARE NOT in Champs class or universe, stop talking a game you dont have! Time would be better served having Toast shut up and concentrate on making plays
( that means being in position, not biting on every first move and ask Coyer to roll some help your way).
  • Neil · 3 years ago
Of course D Williams is gonna get burned once or twice a game, because nobody dares to throw to the other side against Champ. If Champ were thrown to 10-12 times a game like Williams is, he'd get burned every once and a while too.
  • mathias · 3 years ago
COWBOY UP! Don't go BROKE BACK on us! I remember times when we had no shot at all of getting in the playoffs this time of year...There are several teams right now in that boat. One game at a time and lets give them all hell. If we go out.. then lets all (as fans) go down chearing and work on the rest after the season ends. The talent is there....leadership and resolve is what this team needs!...and we can help in the last two home games.

Native Coloradan and I miss all of you South Standers!! Where is the never say die spirit?
  • Bronco Country Hawaii · 3 years ago
I agree with #17...The season isn't over yet. I believe that the Broncos have amazing talent and leadership! Compare the remaining schedules for the Jaguars, Bengals, Broncos, Jets and Chiefs...We still have a great chance.
*Larry Coyer...pressure Leinhart, rattle him, disguise the coverage, let the Broncos defensive presence be known again!
  • Stavro in NJ · 3 years ago
#27 needs to stop ball hawkin' so much and actually stand up and take the blame for his terrible play. Nearly everytime he's burned the replay shows his head whipping back for looking for someone to blame. He's not the only issue, how about a pass rush? Maybe the fact that quarterbacks have all day to pass is a problem? I see them ending up at 9-7, unless the defense finds some pride and shuts down Cinci. As much as I hate to say this, 4 and 3 and 4 and 2, Shanahan goes to the pass, I figured Mike Bell had the guts to grind out one of those fourth downs, questionable play calling and a lack of fire from up top, he's got to get in the faces of some players if we're going to get to 10-6.
  • Art Shell · 3 years ago
We'll take Darrent "the nuisance" Williams. He'll go well alongside the rest of our disgruntled team.
  • Billy · 3 years ago
I agree with mathias, there is still time left to save the season. Don't give up just let. We should be favorite in all of our last 3 gms and if you look at the other teams you see if we take care of businees we will make the playoffs. Cincinnati got to go to Indy, then play us at home, and then play Pittsburgh in the last game of the year. Kansas City, must go to San Diego, and the Jets have to go to Minnesota this week. Yeah Darrent Williams can't cover me right now but i still like him and i still like his confidence. Jay C played a really solid game on Sunday and the running game look's like it's finally getting on track. Look at the schedule Bronco fan's it's in our favor we will win 10 games and that will be good enough to back in to the playoffs. GO BRONCOS!!
  • l mo · 3 years ago
I expect this from Darrent Williams. He's trying to take the attention from him getting smoked, toasted, roasted, and baked every week and place it on someone else just like he does when he looks at Lynch after he's been burned. He is the weak link on the D. Stop trying to pick off every pass. Catch a punt too, because of you Al Wilson got hurt. Shut up and cover somebody.
  • Fred · 3 years ago
you people attacking darrent are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites. you have to at least give him credit for not giving up. also the defense as a whole is not stepping up. one half is showing up and the other half is just there. they play calling is horrible. we arent gettin any pressure on the qb at all. so that makes the secondary vulnerable. why dont you guys get a clue. football is a team effort. coaches have to coach and players have to play. right now both sides arent performing well. you cant blame one person!!!!!
  • Larry Fitzgerald · 3 years ago
Hey Darrent Williams, Don't blink! I'm sorry in advance, but I'm going to burn you time and time again...nothing personal, just business.
  • Gary · 3 years ago
Have I missed something, or has Mr. Bowlen remained silent through all this? Haven't heard a peep from him for - oh, say 4 weeks.
  • jj · 3 years ago
Broncos need to replace Darrent Williams. He's 5'8", he cannot impede the receiver’s view as much as a CB, who is 6 foot or taller. I don't care how quick he is, or how high he is able to jump. A taller receiver is able to see over a much shorter CB (for example Darrent Williams), you could put blinders on the receiver and they will still catch the ball. The receiver's field of vision is clear as a sunny day in July, when they go up against Darrent Williams. Have you heard the expression, “move your fat head, I can’t see?
  • kathy · 3 years ago
Thanks for the comment Fred. These are the same fans who could not stand Elway for most of his career. Band-Wagon fans. You guys are such hypocrites. This is a team effort and I don't think the few catches (except for the Indy game) are going to make that much of a difference on the outcome of each of these games.
  • Matt Leinart · 3 years ago
I'm gonna throw for 300+ yards this week and not throw to Champ's side once, i'll throw jump balls to Fitzgerald all day.Are you listening Darrent??
  • ss · 3 years ago
The season is not over. Remember that! We can easily win out with a 10-6 record, most likely making the playoffs.

Stop hating on Darrent Williams. He is one of the top cornerbacks to ever play for the Broncos. Any other previous CB would have made many more mistakes. Would you rather have Darrent? Or go back to Deltha? Walls? Roc? Tory? Crockett? Gordon? Braxton?

    Darrent's better than them all.
  • Jay · 3 years ago
Regardless of whether or not Williams is calling other players out, it's not entirely his fault he's been picked on. Teams are well aware of what happens when you put the ball up on Champ. So when it comes to the deep ball, teams are going to go to the other side of the field, away from Champ, which generally happens to be to Willaims side of the field. The main problem here is not that Williams can’t cover, it’s that The opposing teams QB has far too much time to sit in the pocket, and survey the field.

The lack of pressure on the opposing QB allows the receivers to stretch the field, and find the gaps. Those gaps appear in the middle of the field for short to medium range passes, and along the left side for medium to long range passing. Williams is not Champ, no one is. He can shut down an entire side of the field. You’re not going to find another corner in the league that can do that. If you give the receivers 5, 6, 7 seconds to stretch the secondary, those receivers will find the open lanes. That even happens to Champ from time to time.

This Denver secondary is one of the finest in the league. But, if you give any good QB time to throw the ball, they will find the open man, and against the Broncos that is away from Champ. The Broncos continue to stop the run, they are very good against the quick passing game, but it’s the 5 and 7 step drops, and shotgun formations that are beating the Broncos. If you can’t force the QB to throw early, then the receivers are able to stretch the defense, and settle into the open lanes, allowing a good QB to hit an open target, often for good yardage.
  • CB · 3 years ago
I think he is being misinterpreted(williams).
I think he means that some guys might be hanging their heads because of the losing streak. THis is alot like the John Kerry story saying he called the troops stupid for being stuck in Iraq when he didn't mean any such thing.
Its just the stupid media looking for a story where their isn't one.

Darrent has a tough job playing opposite Bailey. He is bound to give up some plays with so many balls thrown his way.I know people are saying this already and I agree.

I dont like him on punts, he seems to run backwards more than forword. I think I would use Rod Smith on punts, he is old but he still can catch and run up field for positive yds.
  • jason · 3 years ago
Darrent is gone next year anyway or atleast on special teams, so it will be only 3 more games we have to deal with him getting burnt. He's known for 2 years now that they are throwing to his side week after week and still he's not improved.
  • Bronco Country Hawaii · 3 years ago
Let's just go to the desert and whip the cards. They are riding high after a small upset over Seattle. I think Cutler can pick that Def. apart. I expect the offense to have a big day. I hope that the Broncos defense can get to Leinhart early and often. Jay Cutler will show that he is a better QB than Leinhart!
  • Eric · 3 years ago
Atleast we scored more then 14 points in both games with
Cutler. Stop the hate talk and support your team!!! I like Cutler and I support my team no matter what, and you all should do the same. If you're a Plummer fan you can follow him to his next destination. If you're a Broncos fan, then I expect you to stop critisizing and start encouraging our very promising rookie QB.

    Go Cutler!!!!

  • jimmyc · 3 years ago
Ummm.. excuse me please Kathy, but I'm just a little bit curious as to how you came to the conclusion that just because some of us can actually SEE what is taking place on the field in regards to D Williams, that we therefore are " band wagon fans/hypocrites/Elway haters".
Just to ease your concerns, I was born and raised an orange bleeding, south stand freezing, die hard Bronco fan and will remain one till the day I die. I've been there from Floyd Little to TD, from Haven Moses to the Three Amigos, and yes Kathy, from Morton to John. Have you??
And by the way, it isnt "just a few catches" we are talking about here. It is a match up weakness that every team we play is licking thier chops to exploit.
Yes a better pass rush, (or A pass rush for that matter),would certainly help and no corner can cover for 10-15 seconds. Fair enough, but fire up yout Tivo and see just how many HUGE plays #27 gives up due to soft coverage, lack of height and terrible positioning. And then you act like your the second coming of Louis Wright??? ( He used to play CB for us too.)
If you still cant see it, ask Peyton, Rivers or any OC in the leauge. Guarantee you they do.
  • james S · 3 years ago
ARRENT (NO D) WILLIAMS IS DECENT AT BEST AT CORNER, FAST BUT GOES FOR TOO MANY FAKES.. WE NEED PASS RUSHERS, SAFETIES, ANOTHER YOUNG SPEED BURNING WR AND CONSISTENT RUNNING BACK..MAYBE SHANAHAN NEEDS TO CHECK HIS EGO AND REALIZE YOU CAN'T WIN WITH ONE GOOD WR, SMALL LINEMEN, NO LEGIT STUD PASS-RUSHER AND THE OLDEST SAFETY IN THE LEAGUE.. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY"?? COMES TO MIND..
  • The Duke · 3 years ago
Darrent Williams, you can't be serious!!! Never in all my years as a Broncos fan have I been able to single out 1 guy that is so consistantly responsible for loss after loss.
Getting killed by Manning and Wayne, I'll give him a pass. But getting beat in the endzone by Rivers and the Chargers, getting beat again deep by Hasselback and fumbling the kick return resulting in Al Wilson getting taken off the field on a stretcher, and getting beat down again by the Chargers this past week, how does this guy have a job. He can't hide anymore, every coach knows he's the weak point of the secondary. All players get beat at some point. Even Champ Bailey proved he's from the planet earth like the rest of us when he couldn't make that pick against Gates in the endzone. But week after week, quarter after quarter Darrent Williams gets beat and all I see him do is talk trash and try to defer blame. Darrent its way past time for a reality check and you should feel lucky that you have a job. Let's hope J Cutler can mature fast enough to put enough points on the board to cover all the points you'll be giving up the rest of the season. Go Broncos!!!

    Go Darrent!

  • What a joke! · 3 years ago
This just in: "Benching Darrent Williams is the best chance to win now," Mike Shanahan said. When queried about his previous comment re: Jay Cutler and the best chance to win, Shanahan responded "That was pure smoke and mirrors put out by Jake Plummer, it's his fault, and if he would have spent more time with Jay on snaps, we might have won on Sunday."
  • Bruce Allen · 3 years ago
Maybe I am crazy. But I am really impressed by Cutler. His performance in the third quarter against San Diego excited me more than anything I've seen since beating the Patriots in New England. The trio of Cutler, Scheffler and Marshall are the nucleus of an emerging Super Bowl contender offense even without Javon Walker and Tatum Bell. Add those two and the sky can be the limit on one condition. Namely, there is a major shake up of the defense and acquisition of someone who can do a decent job of returning punts and kick offs.
In the meantime I can see no reason why the Broncos can't beat Arizona and San Francisco and Cinncinati is not unbeatable.
  • James E · 3 years ago
Common Darrent, I am starting to see too much Neon Deon in you and not enough of Champ Bailey. You have to make yourself learn to do what Champ is doing-since Indy, recievers are making you look like Pop Warner player-shut the trap and do it on the field JUST LIKE CHAMP DOES!!
  • pj · 3 years ago
I have been a Bronco fan for over 25 years, even worked for the Post in Ft. Collins when the training camp was there.
To all Bronco fans, do you actually believe if we get to the playoffs, we could win a game or two? Look at our games against good teams, not good.
JC is a rookie, the running game suspect, the pass rush stinks, the pass defense is weak and special teams just plain awfull. Stop pumping your self up for a huge disappointment. I speak from experience. Let Cutler get his snaps, let the brass pick up some talent and enjoy the draft. Don't let this 2006 team break your heart. This season is over.

I think that the Broncos will rebound and make the playoffs. Darrent Williams has been burnt a few times but he has also made some great plays. I agree with #34. Cutler is getting better and better and is gaining confidence. If Cutler is on the money and we can get the twin Bells running wild the losing streak will come to a screeching halt and whip the Cardinals.

I'm definetely no coach, but couldn't Champ and Williams alternate sides of the field? If opposition doesn't know where Champ is, maybe more passes will come his way.
  • Randy · 3 years ago
Did you see that? Darrent Williams just gave up another HUGE play that resulted in a T.D. for another mediocre receiver! Darrent needs to be BENCHED!!!! MORE THAN PLUMMER EVER NEEDED TOO!!! I am still for the Cutler switch though! HE'S GOT A CANNON!!!!!
  • Jim · 3 years ago
Memo to Darrent Williams: Study film, practice hard, shut your mouth, and cover somebody. You have 3 games left and have a realistic shot at the playoffs. You are a veteran. If I'm Champ or Lynch I pull this guy aside and tell to him lighten up. He may get away with saying crap like this in Cleveland but this is Denver. Fans aren't stupid and they know football. From the comments on this board it looks like Williams made a huge mistake opening his mouth.
  • big jack · 3 years ago
dw is a good corner that will be better in a year or so if we can get a d-line that will get some pressure on the qb.dw just needs to tighten up a lil on his coverage cuse he gives a lil too much space. but blame the d-cordinator he stinks, and quit calling zone defense.

andrew young, you sound like my grandpa. it was fun going to the superbowls. that was then and this is now. different teams at different times. yesterdays wins don't earn respect or put points on the board. • Toney Hill · 3 years ago
Darrent "shaked & baked" Williams needs to improve his play before he should be allowed to speak on behalf of the team. He's been shot full of holes like swiss cheese, game after game. Shanahan must really figure he is the best available CB on the roster to keep him in there after being burned so often. Ferguson and Brandon must have been a lot of help because since their injuries the pass defense has given up huge plays, mainly to the left side.

I will give D. Willams credit though, he picks himself up and plays through the shame of being beaten like a nakid step child every week. Takes nerve to show up after being constantly exposed and whipped. He must feel like that 90 lb weakling at the beach getting sand kicked in his face. First thing he needs to do is, NOT BITE so hard on the first move. Those receivers are toying with him like a baby, sticking out the candy but pulling it away. But he never learns.

    D. Williams may get better in the future, but he has only shown consistency at one thing this year...at getting beaten.
  • G · 3 years ago
#29 you are an idiot. Crockett, Braxton, & Gordon were all better than Williams. DW has potential but needs to learn to play to his strengths. he tries to play like Champ but lacks the skill set to do so. He needs to concentrate on sticking to HIS assignment. He takes too many chances at crucial times and gets burned. He is always looking at the safeties to place blame after he makes mistakes. Everyone on the defense needs to stop trying to do too much and stick to their assignments. Coyer could you please mix up your pass rush and actually make some adjustments through the course of a game?
  • JR · 3 years ago
The irony is INCREDIBLE! D. Williams, of all people, is talking smack about his teammates! Gimme a break!!!!!

    D. Williams needs to look at himself in the mirror...better yet, look at the game film from the San Diego loss and he will see how he got burnt NUMEROUS times. In fact, I consider him to be the weakest link on that defense.

The guy gets turned around in coverage(evident by the way he got twisted into a pretzel by the Charger receivers) and is made to look like a fool on a weekly basis.

I cannot believe this guy has the nerver to talk about his teammates when HE´s the biggest question mark on that defense!

It was a HUGE mistake drafting this kid. First and forememost, he is TOO SHORT. Look at the SD game once again and you will see how an extra 2-3 inches of reach may have helped him bat away a pass or two.

You could have Reggie White, Bruce Smith and Mean Joe Greene on that front line and D. Williams will STILL GET BURNT! He is TERRIBLE.

I honestly think that we are in HUGE trouble for the next few years and I primarily blame the secondary. Sure, Champ is Hall of Fame material, but that doesn´t mean you can throw in any Ol´ Joe opposite of him and everything will be OK.

Shanahan needs to eat crow and move D. Williams in a trade, as he did with several other CB busts and try to pick up someone off the trade, or free agency wire. Whomever we get cannot possibly be as bad as D. Williams!
  • JR · 3 years ago
Duke, right on! I second your comments to a fault!

How can D. Williams say ANYTHING when he is THE SINGLE BIGGEST waste on this team!
In all my years as a Bronco fan I´ve yet to see ANY secondary player get burnt like this kid does. He is indeed lucky to have a job!

And I don´t want to hear about the defensive line. A resurrected Reggie White with Bruce Smith on the other side couldn´t help D. Williams look good!

I am so OUTRAGED by D. Williams´ play, now we have to hear him blame others!!! GIMME A BREAK!!!!!! The only reason we´re in this hole is because offensive coordinators started figuring out that DW is THE WEAKEST link in that defense. He´s quite possibly one of the worst starting CBs in the league.

In fact, I´ll take it a step further......in all of my 35 plus years watching football I cannot recall any one CB being picked on week after week, and offensive coordinators having their way with him!

The ONLY reason he starts is because Shanaha likes him and his so-called "agressive" play.
Don't give me AGRESSIVE! Give me COVERAGE! Yes, COVER YOUR GUY and don't get burnt week in, week out.

I am OUTRAGED! This latest DW issue is BY FAR the most disconcerting thing to happen to the Broncos all season.

Shanahan needs to move DW out of the team via trade as soon as the season is over. The guy FLAT OUT STINKS!

I wonder how long my manager would allow me to keep my job if week after week I fail to perform.

SEND A MESSAGE TO YOUR TEAM B4 IT'S TOO LATE. IF YOUR GONNA INSTILL A " BENCH EM IF THEY DONT PERFORM" POLICY, PUT SOME TEETH IN IT AND SIT THIS WANNA GANGSTA NOW!!
ALL TALK AND NO GAME, PIECE OF CRAP. SORRY, BUT IF WANTS TO TALK SMACK, LETS START IN THE MIRROR DW.
JAKE WASNT CUTTIN IT, FAIR ENOUGH, BUT HE IS A HALL OF FAMER AS A TEAMMATE AND PROFESIONAL. THIS PUNK COULD LEARN A LOT FROM HIM IN HOW TO CONDUCT YOURSELF WHEN THE GOING GETS ROUGH. YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY LIKE A MAN, YOU DONT CALL OUT TEAMMATES WHO ARE 1000 TIMES MORE GIFTED THAN YOU.

MAN OH MAN OOOOPPS! I AM WRITING IN ALL CAPS AND YELLING...HERE LET ME CHANGE....OK, DW is a solid player....great speed, great instincts, and tough, and a good threat at TD's after TO's. He is Young..what 23? a kid out there. He will have ups and downs but the way the team is right now (FOX) AT SAFETY .....what can you do but watch him learn and grow. Last year where were the complaints? CB is going to straighten him up..he is the MENTOR..and remember he says to forget about the bad and look for the good... Have to at Corner. By the way if any of you salami eating Freaks complain about my Punct. I will forever on- write in CAPS and run ons!

Most of you have a lack of long term memory. Your all down on D Williams cause he got burned a few times. I remmember Champ's first year with us, and I remember him getting beat big by Jerry Porter, Chad Johnson, and Moss. Every CB gets beat from time to time. Williams is only in his second year give him time, he makes great plays along with some bad ones.
  • Charles · 3 years ago
    D. Williams is under a lot of fire and should have left this observation to coaching staff; however, the lack of effort on some plays is obvious(see #61 on any play)

Both Kathy and Larry need to look up the word "hypocrite" because they don't understand the meaning of the word.

Darrent will never, ever be Champ, no one is- stop expecting him to be. ANYONE on the other side of Champ would be picked on and toasted, and made to look bad. Champ's probably the best corner we've seen yet (sorry Deion) so compared to him, *everyone* looks like a no-talent chump.

That being said, I'd sure like it if Darrent wasn't burned *quite* so often.

"hey #29, are you serious! crockett was 1000% better than arrent"

    R U HIGH?? PUH-LEEEEEZE!!!

Crockett couldn't cover my mother OR her grandmother. He was the ORIGINAL "toast" on the Broncos.

darrent williams need to be cut next summer.

and why dont elvis play more? he is the quickest d lineman on the team. the current line is old and slow so there's no pass rush. when any quarterback needed a third down throw they have an eternity to wait for the open guy.
  • harvey1 · 3 years ago
The Cleveland rejects are just that no pass rush is the most glaring problem with the D that and all the injuries no wonder we are loseing all the games that we have Cutler is not the answer at least not this year.

The question I have for all you is this, last year when everybody was saying that Plummer could never take us all the way when we were in the AFC championship who did we have that was real stellar? Cause all these other teams seemed to have all the big names and last time I checked were all at home watching the Broncos play. Didn't the stuper chargerettes have Brees and LT last year? So what would Denver have done with an LT or LJ or even a fat Bus behind Plummer? I just can't help but wonder what would be the out come if we would have drafted a Reggie Bush this year? Well some things I guess well never know??? But being a lifer Bronco fan I do know 1 thing and that is that the whole league HATES Denver they always have, and I find it a little strange that the media isn't saying much now that were losing, and only talks about how 1 day Denver will be great and wants us all to be fat and happy with a rebuilding year. CAUSE THEY HATE US, THEY WANT US TO BE HAPPY WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING AND WHAT A LOAD OF BS!!! That’s why they don't put a camera up cutlers butt when he messes up and talk about all the promise, cause they don't want us to win EVER!!!Cause personally guys the best chance to win right now is an ugly bearded PLUMMER NOT A LITTLE BOY BLUE #6. Oh Ps. Sorry for all of you who ran to K-Mart to buy your cute little #6's, cause untill he proves other wise I see a Brian G. future???

Darrent Williams...say hello to Rock Alexander, tell him how bad your team mates are. Hes your new room mate next season.

    #60

LoL... Outraged... over a football game... whoo... I about fell over in my chair, laughing so hard... that's funny stuff... Take it to the comedy club, you could make a fortune.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not jumping off the bandwagon just yet. Champ got burned quite a bit last year and I remember thinking that was a crap trade. I don't think that way anymore. Give Darrent a break and let him do his job. He'll learn, or he'll be somewhere else, but I'd put money on the kid.
  • bruno · 3 years ago
darrent shouldn't be talking, teams are throwing to his side and constantly beating him. WAKE UP DENVER! time to get a real CB!
  • Jason · 3 years ago
Hey #61 BJ, they are called Mooley's
  • Jason · 3 years ago
Shut your Pie Hole darrent and make some plays, and to think we draft him over Frank Gore, nice Shanny!!!
  • please..... · 3 years ago
    Hey Broncoholic,
Sounds like we are addicted to a little bit more than just the Broncos. Cutler = Griese? How about this equation then: Broncoholic = moron. Go back to your own teams chatroom in Oakland. And please get off the sauce, your wifes back could use a break this holiday season.
  • B. Roberts · 3 years ago
I like how D. Williams is the one yapping when he's the one who has single handedly cost us our season. Everyone's probably scratching their heads at that statement but if you look at the Colts loss and this 4 game stretch, Williams has given up practically ALL of the defense's big plays. Three touchdowns to Reggie Wayne, 2 touchdowns against San Diego and Seattle, not to mention the LOT of 20-30 yard passes thrown on him. He should be the last person talking for the team.
  • Ted · 3 years ago
    # 29 is an idiot. He obviously didn't watch the Super Bowl years. You actually think that D. Williams is better than Ray Crockett?? Don't forget Crockett had 8 int's in 1997. And besides that, he didn't get toasted everytime down the field.

I'll take Darien Gordon over Darrent Williams. At least gordon could return a punt for more than -2 yds.
  • Darrent Williams · 3 years ago
hey all you b%tches, get off my nutts. You couldn't cover your eyes much less a receiver. I like to get burned so when i do make a good play i can show boat around. So if you got something to say, bring it down to the field, I dare ya!!!!
  • harlin · 3 years ago
When will Shanahan replace D. Williams? Ever since the Indy game he has cause the Broncos severely. Well, if we didn't make the playoff that's fine, just draft a real CB and a RB next year and not another smurf CB and get rid of Tatum too!
  • Portis · 3 years ago
Y'all blew it when you traded Portis for Champ after Manning roasted your secondary for the first of his three roastings. Champ is an amazing athlete and CB. So what does Manning do in the PO's when we have Champ. He roasts the other corner. What did Manning do this year in Denver. Roast Williams with Wayne. What did Rothlisberger do in PO's. Roast Foxworth. Champ is good, but even I can cover grass. If I was Coyer I'd lock Hamza Abdullah, a tall, athletic guy who looks like he might could make some plays. You feel me?
  • Mike Escobar · 3 years ago
Maybe they're ready to call it quits because of Darrent Williams play. He's single handedly killing the defense, every big play is at his expense. Maybe he should look himself in the mirror before he calls some of his teammates out.
  • Chris · 3 years ago
Seattle beats denver hasselbacks first week back and alexanders second week back.. But can not beat Arizona nor San francisco(at home btw)..

Our hearts and prayers go out to the Williams family. This is a very tragic and unnecessary loss. It's a sad day in Bronco land. We'll miss you DW!!!!!
