Broncos fans vent about loss to Raiders
Kircus is done,put in MARSHALL
Here's what I'll bring to the table:
A)I will not throw into double or triple coverage.
B)I will not throw the ball 3-5 yards when we need 10 yards for the first.
C) I won't throw the ball 30-40 yards on 3rd and 3.
D)I will look to my TE's every week.
E)I will audible out of a blitz.
F) I will look off my main receiver.
G)I'll get the ball to Javon 5+ times a game.
H) OK, I'll get a haircut and shave!!!
I just have a hard time believing our locker room is this 'sensitive' and committed to Jake. I mean this is a business and guys are making millions of dollars and share the same goal - winning a championship. How much of a shake up or affect has there been in light of the changes at the RB position? I truly beleive that if Mike comes out and says he believes that Jay gives us our best chance to take it to the next level (which will be his speech come the end of the season, if not before), the guys will have his back!!! Heck, how divided are the Cowboys in light of Parcells replacing Bledsoe with Romo? None whatsoever! So, which veterans would you predict that would take issue with the move?
You people think that a bunch of Tom Bradys and Peyton Mannings are all just waiting to be claimed off waivers, but Plummer's the quarterback only because he and Shanahan go clubbing after the game.
The funny thing is, if he didn't come from the one of the worse losing cultures in pro sports, the Arizona Cardinals, or if he had a different name but the exact same stats, all you people who seem to have all the answers wouldn't be saying boo.
Instead of listening to yourselves, listen to Joe Theismann, Phil Simms, guys who have played the position and say quite loudly that he gets WAY too muc blame for losses and no credit for wins.
If you still want to play deaf, then why not listen to his teammates, who are in a much better position to judge than we are, with help from this quote from another Colorado paper.
"But no matter how many times you knock him down, the man does keep getting back up. In a big game in hostile territory Sunday, he showed the heart that makes him the most popular quarterback where it counts, in the Broncos locker room, since you know who."
As for his history, who cares? All I care about is right here, right now. And in present day, Jake (or by any other name) is not IT.
As for his popularity, he is the the starting QB, after all. There's too much class in the locker room to throw Jake under the bus. They are fully aware that Jake plays off of emotion and he would be even worse without support from his peers. Put in Jay and he'll receive all the back slaps and support you can imagine!!!
was that you that Jake was flipping off? it should of been.
But, I truly believe we'll end up as a wild card and our destiny will end in either the 1st or 2nd round. I just don't see the Broncos, with Jake as our leader, going the distance. Let me eat crow, I'll savor every bite. But, I just don't see it. As for the finger, all I said to him was 'Quit throwing (expletive) interceptions!!!'
Jake may give us heart problems, but he's gifted and good. If he strings enough of those good times together, the broncos are the best team in the NFL. Jay Cutler is not ready to win a super bowl. Jake Plummer at least has a chance.
Go Broncos!!!!!
As for Plummer, people often criticise his interceptions. However, compared to other QBs, his picks really aren't that bad (about average actually).
Plummer's primary problem is that only half of his passes are in stride and catchable. His poor throws end a ton of drives. His arm strength isn't particularly remarkable either.
Regardless, Shanahan knows what he is doing. He has personally coached the two of the best QBs in NFL history. I think Bronco fans can trust his QB decisions.
I think it's time for fans to recognize Plummer's exceptional talents though. His #1 talent is escaping sacks. I've never seen a more slippery QB ever! And don't mention Elway folks. Plummer is more difficult to sack than any QB I've seen in over 25+ years of watching football! Better than Cunningham, Elway, or Vick.
I've seen several plays this year where he seems trapped on all sides, has two 300+ lb. defensive linemen trying to drag him down, and somehow squirts out of the pocket unscathed with the ball! Say what you want about his performance in last year's AFC Championship game but I remember at least 3 awe-inspiring, Houdini-level escapes in that game
It's incredible! How does he do it? This is a truly freakist talent Bronco fans! If don't believe me, strap 300 pounds onto your back and see how well you can run! The most athletic QBs in the NFL (i.e. Vick, McNabb, Rothlisberger) don't even have Plummer's escape talent. I honestly don't understand how he does it. He's not particularly big compared to other QBs. He just has that one freakish ability.
Gabe
i guess you never make mistakes ...
As for this lasting discussion about plummer and cutler, i think you guys just waste your time - Go read a book ...
Mike is making those decisions - and if he thinks cutler would be a alternative right now he would have put him in after the 3rd Int against the one-eyed black idiots.
Saurbrun was a better kicker - but if they'd kept him and he did something stupid again and got banned from the NFL they'd be in a real bind - in short he became a liability to the team. No decent coach will expose his team in such a way. It'd be better to have 30 yard punts than to have no punter at all.
In regards to Cutler vs Plummer - putting in a rookie would satisfy the fans - until he threw a few interceptions then all you fair weather fans would be screaming "Why did you choose him! The louse can't throw a football to a player in our uniform! He must be colorblind!"
The two issues that have been brought up here that are the most important are: Benching Mike Bell for DAMIEN NASH?!?!?! and Ernster over Sauerbrun. This one I can kinda see, since Sauerbrun gave Ernster the opening and he played well early. But if he continues to struggle, we need to make the change. I just cannot fathom the Mike Bell thing. Like it was pointed out earlier, Damien Nash almost cost us the game. Why is Shanahan getting a pass on this one from the local/national media???? How come we're not hearing more about this???
You question Shanny's moves this year, but he's playing POSSUM. We have seen half the palybook - if that - opponents wont game plan as well when they dont know who is playing and havent seen game tape of our whole offense. Shanny learned that against Pitt in the playoffs, they knew what we we're doing on O before we did it
Proof ? Indy and Pitt game. We saw alot more of the real offense creativity. Shanny will pull it out when he needs to, not put the whole playbook on display for a game like Oakland. Wonder why Indy gets stopped in the playoffs ? Cause they run their whole offense and someone like the Pats find the tendencies.
And on Jake ? Get over it. He's a caretaker at the position while the team quietly rebuilds around him. Shanny is reloading the roster while winning, not waiting for a 4-12 season to trash everything at once. find some guys to catch the ball, block and run consistently and we would be 9-0, ( but probably not good enough for those of you who want everything to be 'pretty')
and another thing: dont duprised if Shanny gives Cutler the P. Rivers treatment and sits him next year too. you guys want to rush a young guy in the most complicated position in sports - then you'll be the first to bitch about it if he fails.
Oh the other 2 top "savior" QBs from last years draft are a combined 2-10.
I sure am glad Mike Shannahan is coaching Denver.
No, All the Broncos do is win, in spite of the idiot play of a 10 year veteran who continues to make stupid rookie mistakes. Denver wins most games in spite of Plummer. Not because of the Plummer.
Jake has struggled a bit, but the running game has struggled as well. This offense is based upon running well, to open up play action.
Jake has been under constant pressure since the Pitt game last year. The OL is designed to run block, and Jake is suppose to take care of the Passing. If they don't respect the run, and just rush Jake, it makes it hard to move the ball.
Champ Bailey is the best player in the NFL right now, including Payton. I love Manning too, and think he may go down as the best ever, But I have never been impressed like I have by Champ. I played RC in school, and I didn't have 0.0005% of his skill. He is unbelievable!
Jake is the reason I left the cards as a fan. I love Phoenix, but this organization is pathetic. They don't care about winning. He singlehandedly won most of the games they won here. Look at their record since he left. Would you trade? He has won 75% of his games in Denver, you get to watch a playoff game every year. The cards haven't even been close to the playoffs since he left.
Jake isn't the problem. Shanny knows it. His teammates know it. And, remember that when you are enjoying a playoff game. here in Phoenix, they are rooting for the Lions, so they can have trade bait in the Draft next year!
