Looking back at all the players drafted by the Broncos and what is being paid. I'd say Denver did well considering they had such a late first round pick. With the money being paid to first round draft choices and quite a few being busts, Denvers picks aren't costing a whole lot of money towards the salary cap. GO BRONCOS!

He's not worried about this one year franchise deal, he wants a long term contract. The 2.6 million isn't the issue. The fact that Denver won't pony up for a multi-year deal at his value, is the issue. Then it's a matter of whether Denver feels that he's worth the long term committment at the price he asks. Kickers with legs like his don't come around all that often.

I recently looked for tickets to take my family to a preseason game. By the time I pay for gas and parking and snacks the game would cost us over $500 dollars for the 5 of us. I like football and will continue to watch it on TV but no way will I pay that much to see a live game.

Every kicker is in the same boat...it's not like Prater is heads and tails above the rest of them...they kick off...they kick field goals...23 of 29 isn't anything to brag about, OR be rewarded for...$2.6MM is reward snuff for that display...he also let Sebastian Janikowski tie the record for longest field goal, and had his chance to best it...in his home stadium...and blew it...so now, a RAIDER is tied for the longest FG with one of the all time best kickers to ever kick for the Broncs...Matt Prater will be there, for what the Broncs offered him...period.

It doesn't work that way ...Prater will sign the franchise...there's no getting away from it if the Bronc's don't budge...and he'll make plenty...Ty Warren should take the offers whatever it is...put some incentive clauses in there is you really believe in yourself Ty...but pay him ANY more money for NO plays...no way...he can go sign for nothing somewhere else, and get hurt there...or retire...another guy who actually OWES the Broncos a season...he should man up and play...

Darn right! He attempted 29 FGs last yr, made 23. Likely 10% of those were under pressure. Throw in 60-70 kickoffs and he was in on ~100 plays. I'd say 2.6 million is reasonable compensation for all that effort considering the economy and all ;-). There is a lot of pressure in his job at times, but considering your average heart surgeon pulls down 600K for holding somebody's life in his hands 48 weeks a year I'd say prater is doin OK and should get his butt over to dove valley
